Too bad, just like OP the voters probably did not pay attention to the criteria.

Ok, there once was a player who threw for 5,140 yards and 54 TD's. He obviously won the Heisman and was the best player in the country, right?
That was David Klingler in 1990.
Playing QB is much more than just yards and TD's. This is a remarkably asinine original post.

Everyone with a brain knows this is a lifetime achievement award nomination for AJ, which he has earned.

AJ has been great and his shoes won't be so easily filled next season. He's really grown into a leader over the years and his experience will be missed. Bama not pulling off the 3-peat wasn't because of AJ's play, he's been our one steady hand this season. Shoot, I'll go even a step further. Bama wouldn't even been in the conversation for a 3-peat at seasons end without AJ McCarron as QB......

AJ probably won't win the Heisman, but he is still a damn fine QB. I'd take that young man on my team anyday. I will be pulling for him in the pros, unless, of course, he plays in our division.

Agreed and for a lot of voters, that's exactly what they are gonna look at. JFF is more valuable to aTm because he extends plays and his rushing yards, but his passing yds lack. AJ lead his team and did what he needed to in order for them to win (minus the AU game and even as an LSU guy, i don't blame him for that loss). Hell, even Mett has more yds than AJ and JFF! But he lost 3 games and isn't on the same field as JFF when you talk mobility! Now JFF is on a two game skid and has to compete with JW from FSU playing for the title. JW wins the Heisman and the off the field issues will not matter. This is a football award and many past winners weren't boy scouts either. AJ will get an invite solely because the number of rings he's won while at Bama.

I agree. AJ will be as good if not better.

Maybe not Peyton but Eli should be an easy one. Neither one are know for extending the play with their scrambling ability but they do (mainly Peyton) it by just moving around in the pocket. Peyton is a game manager and makes throws when he has to. He reads defenses very well and has a great head on his shoulders. It's easy to see AJ is a smart QB and should do fine in the NFL.

Auburn is playing for the NC and the best you got is this? Meh.

The only reason AJ is there is because of the team accomplishment factor just like Ken Dorsey and Danny Wuerffle
Wuerfell finished his Gator career by completing 708 of 1,170 passes for 10,875 yards with 114 touchdown passes, the best in SEC history and second-most in major college history.[4] His career pass efficiency rating of 163.56 was the best in major college history and his percentage of passes which went for a touchdown (9.74) ranked first in collegiate history. In 1995, his efficiency rating of 178.4 set a single-season collegiate record. During his Heisman-winning season of 1996, he completed 207 of 360 passes for 3,625 yards (an SEC record at the time) for thirty-nine touchdowns (leading the nation) and his efficiency rating of 170.6 made him the first quarterback to ever post a rating of 170 or better in back-to-back years.

Because the Gumps won't shut up about how great AJ is. I actually had a Gump tell me AJ in the NFL will be as good a Peyton Manning.
