The thought is that although the Bulls are in the playoffs, their roster is set up to fail over the next few years...big contracts to mediocre players, etc. Donovan would make more money in Lexington, and have an opportunity to escape an increasingly difficult situation in the NBA.He said no before, but might jump now.

Getting back into recruiting after not doing it for years would suck to me, but maybe he likes that part of it.

Liked. It's a very, very different game now.

It's not that hard.

"Hi, I'm CBB coaching legend Billy Donovan. I've won multiple college titles and know how to get you to the NBA because that's where I've spent the last decade coaching. Here's a bag of cash and your uniform, which you'll wear to play at the most legendary college program in history in front of a ton of fans."

Does he really want to deal with Portal and NIL BS?

Recruiting really isn't needed now. You just build up a massive NIL kitty and go sign the top free agents out of the portal each year. People haven't grasped how massively college sports has changed over the past couple of years. And at Kentucky, Donovan would have millions available each year to sign the best available players. (in football, otoh, UK is screwed because Bama, Georgia, Texas, Ohio State will outspend everyone else by tens of millions).

I doubt Donovan would be willing to exit the NBA for college, but if Kentucky could pull Hurley they would be an immediate competitor for titles again.

As an Alabama fan I wouldn't like to see it, but would be impressive.

No because the game has changed so much since he left UF.

No you aren't. You're seeing posts on UK messageboards from people who have no idea.

When is the NBA season done? If it's Donovan won't he be behind in recruiting?

This is the only thing in your entire post that matters. Can he identify the right high school and transfer talent and pay them more than others.

That’s it. Otherwise those kids were like 5 at most when Donovan did something in college.

Good point, recruits know who the #1 coach is in the game right now
Someone younger, with more recent Championships

If you are bored and have some time to pass on this start the Will Wade to UK rumor and wait for the nuclear melt from LSU fans! I am one but not too much in BB. My BB blue blood still runs in my veins.

A coach would be insane to leave the NBA for NBA lite. Pro sports are now easier due to NIL
