I prefer to call my liberal tendencies compassion. ;-) but pragmatism informs my politics as much as anything else. I know what I'd prefer ideally but I also know what can be gotten and hold no illusions about a perfect world. We live in a shitty world where people often suck, imo, best to go from there when thinking about solutions and compromise. Besides I'm no peacenik and my family has fought in every war - damn proud of that too.
So yeah, I suppose I'm a mishmash.
