you know this melt has gone nuclear when gumps are paranoid that the media is out to get their refs!

Okay.... take away his camera and take away 7 points from the final score? Justice right?

I cannot get over this. I wish LSU would send photographers on the field to intimidate Penn Wagers.

so its "a big no no"... yet photographers are constantly on the field when time on the field has stopped. pregame, post game, half time the field is littered with reporters, photographers, etc.
Photographers aren't permitted on the field at halftime, and are not allowed beyond the 20 yard lines on either end unless they're moving to the other end of the field. Videographers with the network carrying the game are permitted on the field at halftime under strict restrictions. Basically for just a quick interview with the coaches.
The photographer will be punished once he's identified. This is a non-story.

you got the non story part right. not sure exactly how they plan on punishing the photographer. REC gonna kidnap him & spank him on the 50 at halftime or something?

It's probably up to the school and not even the SEC. Will the OM SID office deny him future credentials? If he's with a Mississippi media outlet, that could spell trouble for his job. If he's just a freelance photographer, he'll survive.
It was a dumb move on his part, but the outrage is just as dumb, if not more.

You smell the OP butthurt from Auburn.

Better snatch this guy up. Heard he's available.

I am not crying about losing a game but you don't see a problem with a school attempting to intimidate refs?

I have seen a better photo up close of the photographer. They know who he is and it is unlikely in THIS case that he will lose a credential, despite what happened - though someone will assuredly sit down and discuss some future expectations with him. When it is all said and done, it will end up being a compound problem of inexperience, a lack of understanding about media credential rules and boundaries, over zealousness, and maybe someone having a credential that probably shouldn't.
And on a related note, there are no "free-lance" photographers allowed on the Ole Miss or Bama sidelines. They are all shooting for a news outlet, photo service, or a professional organization (such as the SEC office, an Alumni group, maybe the Ole Miss Media relations dept., etc).

Mississippi runs the media. That's why the state is always portrayed so favorably in television and movies.
Underrated post.
Has anyone ever seen a movie set in Mississippi that didn't have cars from the 1950's and accents that would make Deliverance seem metropolitan? I wonder if anyone from Hollywood will ever visit Mississippi. It's ridiculous.
good stuff
