Other accounts, though, suggest some cadets weren't so conciliatory. Legend has it that some commandeered a howitzer, loaded it on a flatbed rail car and were headed to Waco to shell the Baylor campus when Texas Rangers felled trees across the tracks to stop them.

There is no known substantiation for any part of that story.

I used to believe in that story too.

les miles has murdered two clocks in oxford

Nah -- He's just from the Cholly Mac school of coaching and thinks we always have 4 seconds left when we play Ole Miss.

There was a father-son killing in Birmingham a few years ago that was over the Iron Bowl. Dad killed son or vice-versa after one team won.

Their was a killing in Decatur, or thereabout, a while back over an Iron Bowl game played on XBox or some such.

ETA: wasn't there a killing before the FL/TN game in 99? Someone got thrown down so stairs at an apartment complex or something, broke their neck.

Mizzou's rivalry with kU was born out of murder and pillaging.

Going to a frat party at Auburn University and shouting “Roll Tide!“? Dumb. Using that as an excuse to stab several people? Idiotic. But then bribing a mentally challenged man to take the fall for you? That’s taking being a sleaze to a whole new level.

THE PRESS-REGISTER (by way of THE SPORTING BLOG) reports that Joey Barrett Jr., 25, “admitted Wednesday to bribing a retarded man to claim responsibility for injuries suffered” by members of the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity house during a brawl before the 2005 Iron Bowl Game. All of which makes him just about the worst person in the history of ever. The only thing worse would have been for him to stab the retarded guy and then bribe frat kids to take the fall.

Seems like someone dies every time the Dodgers and Giants play. Left coasters keeping our cred as a nation, who would've known.
