Actually he did. Shula wanted him bad.

Did they offer him a scholly?

Wanting is one thing, doing something about it is another.

ETA: LINK

Pretty good story about how it all unfolded.

ETA 2: And Tebow not coming to Bama set the conditions for the departure of Shula and the arrival of Saban. I think that is a good trade off.

Yeah I knew he was offered and decided late. Bama was one of his official visits. Worked out better for Bama in the long run

I had no idea about the whole drama behind it. Be thankful you lost the battle but won the war.

Haven't been on the board in a couple of days and get on to all this shite. WTF happened? LSU fans get tired of everyone talking about Fournette? Noticed a few of my AU brethren have jumped in as well.

I don't wish any player ill will after they enter the NFL. I hope they all do great!!! the only reason i watch the NFL is to keep up with SEC players.

Can't speak for other teams, but Bama fans don't really care about a player that doesn't beat them.

first of all I dont see him blowing anyone's mind. Second it is not an exhibition game. It counts. Heck, even the players get gifts. And I applaud the young man making the decision. They probably should have let him sit a few games back instead of rushing it. High ankle sprains take weeks to get over

I also concur with the Tebow answer, but besides Fornettes injuries the kid had to put up with a Miles/Cameron style anemic offense his three years at LSU.
That said besides Bama he schooled...no embarrassed every SEC defense sent to stop him. The worst embarrassment was suffered by those phony Aggie's who should be playing in the Sun Belt instead of the SEC...and when he wasn't embarrassing SEC defenses his back up Guise was.
Fornette is a class individual both on and off the field. When he goes on and becomes some NFL teams # 1 pick, he will rewrite that teams recordbooks.

You have no clue.

Fournette barely makes the top 5 list and will surely get edged out by another player as the years go by.

But one player will reign eternally at #1 Cameron Newton.

I have a clue and Fournette clearly makes the top 5, at least on this board

the 2 LSU candidates for this title would be Fournette and Mathieu

Correct though, Cam should get every vote for #1

The answer is Tebow. No one is remotely close to second either.

Not Manziel, not Cam. No one.

Tebow was the CENTER of all things CFB for three years. Cam was one year. Manziel two. Neither lived to Tebow hype either way. If you answered anything but Tebow, you clearly have a short memory or are kind of stupid. His strong Christian faith, and winning more awards than any QB in CFB history lead to a following I doubt cfb had ever seen. It was ridiculous. Even as a Gator fan I was getting Tebow'd out a bit.
