Ladies, Gentlemen, and Ursus Americanus,

I wish you all a merry and joyous first day of college baseball -- a time where we can put aside our differences and celebrate.

Today, we can walk out to the bleachers, and sit in short-sleeve shirts on a perfect afternoon. We'll think of times long ago, when our teams were good, and before some teams ever reached Omaha.

Before the Germans bombed pearl harbor, baseball marked time for our great nation. The field and the game, they are both our past and our future.

Today we will watch the games and be dipped in magical waters; we will emerge refreshed and renewed, with our hopes restored and memories of poor seasons removed

Baseball reminds of us of all that once was good and can be again. So grab a cold beverage of your choice today and enjoy the games.

It's like if James Earl Jones and John Belushi collaborated on a baseball speech.

Arkansas starts all its games during the day until mid-March, because it's usually pretty chilly here until then.

It's gawgeous here today, though. A little windy, but sunny and 70s. I hope the RBI girls are in shorts.

That has to kill attendance.

There are annals of threads about this very topic. Weather in Fayetteville keeps attendance down.

Only OT ballers and the unemployed are able to attend most weekday games at Baum until mid-March.

It does but the crowds later in the season make up for it in a big way

I love it! The old Alex Box was so old school in its feel and its sights, sounds and smells (popcorn, peanuts, hot dogs, fresh cut grass, dirt, wood, cigar smell :)
And the new Alex Box has most of those old attributes, but in a more modern and roomy way. I love the scoreboard style, the Champions sign, the great sightlines from the grandstand and concession areas, etc.
Can't wait for another Omaha run hopefully!
