Ladies, Gentlemen, and Ursus Americanus,

I wish you all a merry and joyous first day of college baseball -- a time where we can put aside our differences and celebrate.

Today, we can walk out to the bleachers, and sit in short-sleeve shirts on a perfect afternoon. We'll think of times long ago, when our teams were good, and before some teams ever reached Omaha.

Before the Germans bombed pearl harbor, baseball marked time for our great nation. The field and the game, they are both our past and our future.

Today we will watch the games and be dipped in magical waters; we will emerge refreshed and renewed, with our hopes restored and memories of poor seasons removed

Baseball reminds of us of all that once was good and can be again. So grab a cold beverage of your choice today and enjoy the games.

I am AustinDawg and I approve this message and appreciate your support.

Post who is throwing first pitch at your opener if you know. I think UK is the only team opening on the road.

Baseball season, that's when you know the weather is close to being beautiful. When the grills crank up and the smoke is like a huge cloud if it's no windy. Where SEC rivals tailgate, drink beer and talk about their teams, sometimes bragging. Where old stories are told about "do you remember when?"

Where the spring air just makes everyone want to show up because winter is over. Where we talk about the lagacies of past coaches and the impact they made on a program. Where unlike football, the fans are different and want to take in the visitors so much more.

It is the greatest time for some SEC fans. The temps are perfect, the atmosphere turns a new page to competition where young men are itching to see who has the pitcher or bat that day. Only in the Sec does this exist on the college level to such a degree. There is no conference like it in America. See you at the ball park!
