Easter: Derived from Eostre, or Eostrae, the Anglo-Saxon goddess of spring and fertility. The Catholics around the 8th century decided to rename the celebration of the death of Christ Jesus after a goddess of fertility. Merry Easter.
Jesus celebrated his own death with his disciples on Passover night on Nisan 14. Nisan 14 was about a week ago.

That pretty much explains why religion gets away with all this nonsense to start with. Rabbits and eggs as a symbol of Easter, does it even make people a little curious how all this nonsense is related to the fertility goddess?
