In regards to Bret, I was obviously disappointed in this season; however, if they can consistently finish maybe in the top 25, and get top 50 players for each position, I think he can be competitive. If we don't win at least,oh, 6-7 games in the regular season next year, I will be worried that he can't compete on a yearly basis.

First rational thing regarding Bielema I've read from y'all.

The biggest knock I see on Gus is that he came into a perfect situation for him. Who built that? HE DID! He recruited and built a national championship caliber team while have to deal with Chizik's bullshite. Now we see what he can do on his own. IMO this year proves he can build a winner because he did. With the additional burden of being gone a year and having Gene shite on his team.

To be fair, wasn't Chizik known as the best recruiter of that regime? I thought Gus was too nerdy to be an ace recruiter.

My biggest worry about Gus is how high he has set the bar for himself in year 1. He could be generating some unrealistic expectations among some.

But I'm on the Bus now and there is no getting of until it crashes or rolls into a different town.

National Championship appearance in year 1? Yeah, if Auburn fans think they'll get there with any frequency, one, they are discounting the luck they had this year(just like gumps the last couple seasons), two, they are discounting the SEC Gauntlet, and, three, they are just being like any other fan base.

He doesn't seem to have a system that can exploit athletic lineman like Gus does.
What? You realize we pulled our athletic center to block outside all season, right?

On paper we should be better next year than this, but, even if we are better, we could still lose more games. That is just part of cfb, especially in this conference and this division.

Might as well go ahead and win it this year since we are there and all.

Just seeing the foundation this season is built from. I would say Gustav has the ability to sustain a high level program despite those too bias to admit.

It'll be interesting to see what SEC teams (especially the West) can do to slow it down.

Recruiting superior athletes is a must. They'll just snowplow the unacquainted or undermanned. (see Missouri).

It'll also be very interesting to see if any other teams try to run it. It's not like adding a new wrinkle.

You can't build a sustainable program with just one position having above average athleticism though. That's too gimmicky.

Arkansas would be a great candidate to try.

Defenses will adjust and this type of offense will prove difficult to recruit the best players.

Teams will tell WR's they don't throw the ball, they will tell OLinemen they don't do this in the NFL it doesn't prepare you. RB's will be told they will run you into the ground(see Mason yesterday)

Elite passers won't go there all they do is run run run...this is why the big programs dropped the Wishbone.

Cam ran this offense. Didn't hurt him in the draft.

You do realize Gus has been known to open up the passing game quite a bit, right? 2010 for reference if nothing else. It's simply the matter of why do something else when what AU is currently doing is working.

Cam was kind of a unique situation,if he had not had a bout of kleptomania he never shows up at Auburn.

And I am telling you how other programs will recruit against you. They did it against the old wishbone veer etc and this is why you saw all the big teams drop those offenses.

Let's not forget that Gus handpicked Clint Moseley and Kiehl Frazier to run his offense.

If Tyrick (sp) Rollinson had stayed neither one of those would have started.

If it devalues the recruits draft stock, they'll ultimately quit coming. Solid point...
