Is far greater than Bret's, right? His system is based on power running and pulling lineman. They run like 3 running plays. Do Arkansas fans regret not getting a guy with a system that's built for the long term?

Gus took a 3-9 team to the national championship. That's fricking amazing. So yes, he is orders of magnitude better than Berthurt.

You don't need to stir them up at this point.
Some are in COMPLETE denial.

Just seeing the foundation this season is built from. I would say Gustav has the ability to sustain a high level program despite those too bias to admit.

obviously Gus did an amazing job this year. Even if you took out the hail mary and the field goal return it would have been a great job for year 1. So the dude can clearly coach. Will he be able to build a long term dominant program? I don't know, that's hard to do. Time will tell but I'd say he has just as good a chance as anyone else out there.

My general question is does the Gus Bus put more pressure on the upper tier teams or the bottom dwellers?

Just think what could have been if Auburn had kept Malzahn and just let the Chiz go a cpl of years ago. Last year would have never happened and Kiehl Frazier would be a heisman winner. Well maybe that's pushing it.

You realize you just described Bielema's offensive philosophy as well. They just do it out of different formations.

Both Gus and Bret have built programs that have won conference championships.

How about Sumlin?

Bret's is too rigid, with not as much misdirection. He doesn't seem to have a system that can exploit athletic lineman like Gus does.

Yea, this is a little too far...

He would probably be around as good as microwaved diahrrea, which is still better than what he is now.

The ultimate challenge.... could Gus have made Jeff Driskel work?

Let's not joke about that right now, man...

...and I have good reasoning. Jeff Driskel was either the #1 or #2 quarterback on the recruiting board for the 2011 recruiting class. What a colossal fail those two were...

It's not like Auburn had awful recruiting classes. Also, let's be honest for a bit, Auburn is the far superior program to Arkansas, so that makes winning their easier.

The biggest knock I see on Gus is that he came into a perfect situation for him. Who built that? HE DID! He recruited and built a national championship caliber team while have to deal with Chizik's bullshite. Now we see what he can do on his own. IMO this year proves he can build a winner because he did. With the additional burden of being gone a year and having Gene shite on his team.
