They saw how it worked out for LSU when Saban left for the NFL…

No way in hell that happens. But damn it would be funny as shite if it did.

I’d love to have Lane. Some idiots in here think he wouldn’t take the Bama job because he is following Saban and no one wants that job. Some of the same people think he would take the dumpster fire of a job at Auburn.

Has nothing to do with current coaching changes, but curious to see what the current collective answer is on this. Any coach, who would it be?
As a bama fan, I hope we hire someone from the lbgyquia community.

I don’t know anybody who wants that.
There’s no clear, obvious guy at the moment, but Lane for me right now. Lane could at least inherit the talent and win a championship before things fell off. Chances are the next guy won’t be there more than a few years anyway. Watching Dan Lanning closely though.

Agreed, especially with such dominance over the past 15 years. Alabama needs to make a MAJOR splash post Saban, Kiffin would be settling. Sure by then, there will be a few suitable candidates

It's really impossible to give a good answer to this question now because we don't know what's going to happen up until Saban retires.
If he coaches 5 more years and Oregon is lights out the whole time... they could go Dan Lanning. But if Lanning sucks over that time they won't.
I'm guessing if it happens 5 years down the road it won't be the top names now. Probably one of the newer coaches that proves himself over that time. Lanning, Aranda, Dykes, Campbell at ISU, Rhett Lashlee or someone we haven't even heard of yet.

I’ll probably pick up a new hobby. What more could I possibly watch Alabama accomplish in football?

It's a tough question because no matter who we get they'll fall short of Saban. There are coaches who can do a good job, but a dynasty most likely won't continue.
People I'd make tell me no:
Kirby Smart
Brian Daboll
The next few on the call list:
Kiffin
Dabo
Anyone past that point and I have no idea. I believe Alabama is the job Kiffin wants, but I don't know if the PTB will forgive Kiffin's prior mishaps. I don't want Dabo, but it'd be hard to argue if Alabama offered him the job with the success he's had at Clemson. The love he has for Alabama runs deep.
I just hope we don't frick it up. My biggest worry is everyone's hands reaching back into the cookie jar the way it was prior to Saban. That would be every BAMA fan's worst nightmare.

That is already happening right now at Auburn.

So the Gumps want a guy that couldn’t get an interview at LSU? I’m sure Kiffen wants the job, but I don’t think the job is as appealing following Saban as Gumps make it out to be.

I think they get Kiffen
