They didn't take a year of eligibility, dip shite.

Did CBS have it wrong in their initial report?

quote:

2. The school will appeal the suspension length. The suspension for use of a banned substance is one calendar year, plus a loss of a year's eligibility. Florida announced Monday it will help Grier appeal the length of the suspension in hopes the redshirt freshman only misses the rest of the 2015 season for what has been explained as an honest mistake.

I understand he can still practice though.

Doesn't it seem strange to any Florida fans that he was taking this miracle supplement that dramatically increased his gains and nobody else on the team was taking it? That kind of stuff spreads like wildfire when one or two guys noticed what are you doing in the weight room. Anyone who played competitive sports knows that these kids know exactly what is going into their body they research the stuff to make games in the white especially a Division I SEC athlete

He was listed at 172 at a camp in may 2012 (20 months before enrolling). He was listed at 181 Jan 2014 and 215 in Aug 2015.

Sooooo.... You're wrong.

Thank you! That, "He weighed 172 pounds his freshman year!" shite was tiresome. Who in the SEC recruits a 172lb QB*???

Regardless of what happens, we should know what his eligibility will be in the next couple of weeks

It doesn't seem strange when you take into account his actual weight gain instead of using this made up "43 pounds" that gets parroted around.

You're talking 23 pounds in 2 years

Well, that is interesting.

Yeah, anything a program gives out has to be cleared by the NCAA.

Really, his only out is "I checked with Florida staffers and they told me I could take it."

Either that or they're arguing the NCAA didn't promptly notify school staff that the substance was now banned, so Grier kept taking it. Considering he had played a few games before he had the initial dirty test, that may be hard to argue. The NCAA is usually pretty on top of that.

I think his dad spouting off a weight on Twitter obviously shows how excited will Grier was about his gains in the weight room. 20 lbs on a qb is a lot btw

Does being a QB change physiology? Why would he being a quarterback matter? Working out and increasing protein intake will make everyone bigger

That has already been proven to be incorrect. He will be a Soph.

He has no chance in winning. It is his responsibility to take to SSC and ATC to make sure legal. The NCAA won't reverse this and should not. The penalty is justified, he signed a piece of paper in camp saying he agreed to suspension and test.

They should not be confident. He is done, what will doom it is that they knew what the penalty is for a banned substance. It is up to the player and school to make sure, which they did not do.

Just because UF has decided to challenge it and take a shot at the NCAA overturning it, doesn't necessarily mean it'll happen.

Either way Grier is going to have to sit in the process, might as well appeal it and see what happens. That's all this is.

Melt for what?

I will be pissed at the NCAA because they have just went back on a rule that cost hundreds their career or year.

But I wont be wrong on this, he took a banned substance the penalty is a year. He did not clear it and it cost him.

The three things you are taught as a player is:

Call the ATC when taking any medications
Call the ATC when you are sick before anyone
Call the ATC/SSC when you see a new supliment.
