Funny thing about both passer rating and QBR?

Our crappy QB last year was better in both than the great Dobbs.

I mean you can read it that way and it's completely possible that it's not coachspeak. I've just heard those kinds of statements too often signal it being coachspeak for 'all of them are mediocre or meh' and am skeptical of it being a good thing at this point in the preseason. The old adage about having more than one QB meaning you have none is often though not always the case. Even so, I don't think that means they must all be bad or that Lambert is necessarily bad but I don't find it an ideal situation at all.
You could certainly read into it and come to that conclusion. But with Richt he's not gonna give you much one way or the other, so it is entirely plausible it is that they were all so bad we couldn't decide or so good. Of course we would love to have a sure thing returning but we don't and we have to make the best decision and Richt gave all three guys a chance to win it. I trust Richt and Schotty enough with a QB to say we will be just fine there.

Apologies to shaft.I believe Legendary was the troller but regardless I'm really not the worried about the QB posistion especialy with surrounding cast and his experience. It really does make a huge difference. He's not gonna have a year of OTJ...

I think a lot will depend on whether or not he can keep defenses just honest enough to not simply sell out on the run every play and whether or not he has the supporting cast to do it. Even if he doesn't have that I'm not sure how many teams you'll face that have the defense to slow down Chubb.

I'm saying if you look at the season ending qbr for both qbs on ESPN Ramsey's is higher than Dobbs period. You can bs what ever you want to and try to spin it how you want to. The fact is if you look them up in their statistics, Ramsey's is higher.

I'm clearly talking about the upcoming season. It is a yes or no answer. I don't need another paragraph of irrelevance, bra.

Richt at UGA has shown time and time again he knows QB's. It's very rare UGA has a subpar QB. So odds are it's gonna be okay. As long as he can post a 2400 yds 16 tds 8 int type season we should be okay.

Nah, I think message board bets are for the birds.

With that said, I believe supporting cast and experience can make a big difference in how a QB performs, and you dont. We will see who is right.

I'm telling you right now Ramsey has a higher qbr than Dobbs. Fact. Dobbs laid an egg against the worst team in the sec east , fact. Im not sure what it is about that you are not getting.

I agree with this. I don't think UGA needs much more than a decent play-action pass game to keep most defenses honest. I believe the QBs, team around them aside, are very unimpressive; however, I still think the team is so good that UGA wins 10 games.

There will be games though, maybe just 2, 3, or 4, where Lambert will have to throw for UGA to win. Whether a team is loading the box, or Chubb is having an off game or whatever, I wouldn't feel comfortable as a UGA fan with the game in Lambert's hands.

Fortunately for UGA, they could win 8 games without attempting a pass.

Why did Lambert transfer from UVA?

Dobbs laid an egg? He didn't have his starting center (did have a backup center who was so bad that RB Marlin Lane was killed as soon as he took the handoff), didn't have his starting WRs, didn't have his starting RB after a few plays. Dobbs was the only reason we won that game.

THOSE are the facts.

So it's okay to bring Dobbs supporting cast into an argument but not Lambert's at UVA? Look if i'm picking one for my team coming into this season, it's Dobbs because he has had successful games in the SEC, but he's also had some not so good games. Good thing the season is here and this will all be settled soon.

We'll have one of the best TE groups in the conference and one great WR along with some other unproven but talented guys out there. We'll also be much deeper at TB.

Hudson Mason threw for 21 TD's and 4 INT along with a 155 QB rating last year.I believe Lambert is more talented and is more capable than Mason if he has to put a game on his shoulders.

He threw 3ints, had 92 yards and 0 TDs against the worst team in the sec.....yes as the qb of your team he laid an egg. Make all the excuses you want.

By agreeing with that, it appears you disagree with

I predict Lambert will throw more interceptions than TDs, and that he will be benched at some point this season due to poor play.

I actually think Mason was better than he was ever given credit for by both UGA fans and non-UGA fans alike.

I know fans have been high on the TE spot based on Schotty but haven't heard much about the TEs themselves. I wish our TEs were in better shape -- Wolf is an NFL talent but after him and Ellis it's guys with no experience. That said, I'm not sure I'd say y'all are deeper at TB this year just healthier than you were starting fairly early on last season which may be splitting hairs to a degree. I'm especially looking forward to seeing if Marshall can finally get back to normal.

So facts that contradict your agenda aren't real facts but excuses? Alrighty then. Continue on with your spurious comparisons and apparent need for Dobbs and Lambert to be on equal footing regardless of the prima facie adsurdity of your position.
