Pretty sure Jacksonville evacuated people in flood zones. Pretty sure some projections called for this thing to make landfall at Melbourne

What does Jacksonville evacuating people in flood zones have to do with Gainesville?

Gainesville is 180 miles Northwest of Melbourne. Again, West of Melbourne. West being the key word here. The west side of the eye is the weak side of the storm.

Gainesville was barely going to get any affects from this storm from the very beginning.

College Station businesses and hotels suffer simply for being in College Station. I mean, you've got to admit that if it wasn't for the fact that you pulled tongue for the first time your freshman year after a long high school career in band camp and such, you'd recognize that fact. Talk about blinders....

and thousands of people have lost their lives in both Hurricanes. My aunt lost her house in Matthew just this week.

No one is minimizing Katrina. I don't know why some LSU fans are trying minimize Matthew? 11 people in Florida have died. May not be much to some of you but if the hurricane would have tracked 25 miles more West it would have been hundreds, maybe thousands of deaths. However, Thousands did die in the Caribbean. This was not a hurricane to take lightly. We're all laughing and trolling in good fun but a lot of people are picking up the pieces right now.

The reason the game had to be cancelled in my opinion because of the unknown. No one knew as late as Thursday night what Matthew would do. For that reason alone, you have to cancel/postpone the game. Over half of the players lived in the evacuation zone. Imagine moving the game to Monday if several players family members would have perished. Talk about bad look.

And what about that situation changed from Monday to Thursday? Absolutely. Nothing. I don't give a crap about the conspiracy theories, but Foley did manipulate the situation to insure one outcome. It's what he wanted, and Sankey sat on his arse and let him do it.

Go back to 05 when a much stronger commissioner took charge and didn't give LSU and UT choices. They were ordered to play on Monday night, and UT had to fly in and out that day. Neither school was totally thrilled with the decision, but that really didn't seem to be a consideration at the time. The contrast in leadership is pretty clear.

Now UF is winning the PR war

It's pretty easy to win when all you have to do is say nothing and let the other side continue to foam at the mouth.

I'm not sure that the Tiger faithful quite realize that their ravings are actually hurting their cause at this point.

And to the one guy who popped off about not having a say about Katrina because the other poster is a Gator - this may come as a shock, but not ONLY LSU fans had family affected by that. My mother and uncle both spent half a year living in FEMA trailers in someone's front yard while trying to rebuild their lives, and they got off pretty lucky compared to a lot of their neighborhood. At least they had homes left to rebuild.

Now, the person that said that may have been personally affected by it as well, but there are plenty of people here that act all high and mighty about Katrina whose only connection to it was they happen to have lived somewhere in Louisiana. I'm going to go ahead and say I definitely have as much right to have an opinion about hurricane destruction as any of that group.

Right. To Sunday or Monday . Still waiting for a logical response from you as to why that could not have happen.

Here are the issues. Foley should have made this call based on what you are saying by Monday evening. Tuesday morning AT THE ABSOLUTE LATEST. There isn't a single reason you or he sighted that wasn't just as valid earlier in the week.

Your reasons STILL don't mean the game has to be cancelled outright that early. USC moved their game with the caveat that it could be cancelled depending on how bad of a hit they took. The game still could have been cancelled closer to game time, especially if LSU agreed to fly in and out the day of the game. There were still legit options that Foley killed by waiting. The result will be either several other teams affected and many millions in insurance payouts, or a lost game and controversy. I am hoping for the latter and a new commissioner to go with it.

Get a fukkin map idiot... Gainesville is as close to the ocean as is Baton Rouge. Where do you think people in Jax, St Augustine, Daytona Beach and the on the coast are going to evacuate to? Did you look at the evacuation route or just talking shite? It went straight through Gville. You want people to travel through evac routes??? Real smart.

Bingo. LSU wanted a competitive advantage with florida coming to baton rouge. The Florida players would be pre-occupied with not knowing the full extent of possible damage and moving the game to tiger stadium. Foley could have looked at Monday, sure but I'll be damned if I would have just moved my game to baton rouge.

Yea, south carolina did but the only people that didn't laugh were south carolina and LSU fans. I thought they were little bitches for that, so did spurrier.

And no LSU doesn't dictate where the game goes and then alleva acts like the victim because he didn't get his wish which he had no right to dictate. However, I understand alleva knows he had to do something to get tiger nation on his side no matter how short sided or selfish it looked.
