You say live in Austin, yet you define location by latitude. Everyone in Austin defines how cool a place is by how many minorities it gentrified on The East Side vs being on the boring old West Side.
Personally I will never live east of 35 again.

I've been to college station several times to see LSU play. Very Starkville-esque.

Between that and Mexican food row on South 1st it's almost perfect.
La Barbeque moving to E 6th and now the Horseshoe Lounge also moving has fricked it all up

That description, coming from you, doesn't surprise me in the least.
You've made your feelings very clear.
But what does any of that have to do with you insinuating that Aggies shouldn't get into a discussion re: ATX's gay and/or homeless population?

Aw, the Horseshoe Lounge is moving? Damn I was looking to get down there now that my wife works downtown.

Austin has the 6th largest gay population % in the entire United States. Only 2% behind #1 San fransisco
1 in 100 in Austin is homeless.
1 in 100 in Austin is homeless.

Which is fine--I couldn't care less.
I'm just trying to put into context DS's "Do you really want to go there?" comment.
It was absurd, and he knows it.

Texas A&M is one of the least tolerant campuses in the country so of course I naturally took the comment as pejorative

And boy do you see those homeless at the red lights. Luckily the troll road is like a homeless barrier, and I am no longer driving a Prius. They run to a damn Prius, and I don't miss when I would let them down.

Oh for Pete's sake.
That's not what you meant, and you know it.
Extra silly points awarded, however, for the red herring.

And yet we are gay on the Rant.

That's the point I am addressing.
Austin's ok, lots of fun things to do. But it is filled with obnoxious folks with an undeserved sense of entitlement. I also wouldn't choose to raise a family there.
I'm sure that Drac and Boxer are shining beacons of hope for Austin

So what you're saying is: Rather than erroneously characterizing Texas A&M University as gay, you were characterizing it as the one of the most intolerant universities in existence?
Keep the unfounded clichés alive, tolerant one.

I live in Leander (aka College Station 2.0), and mostly dislike the part of Austin Drac is referring to because of a lack of parking.
Or that was my old complaint, but now the wife has a parking spot downtown so I am going to eat there way more. Love the food. I agree about the family thing though, and I would trade a HEB Plus for every bar on 6th Street.

It's great because it holds a mirror up to the rest of Texas so they can see how they come off to the rest of the country.
