Kirby is inferior to both of them of course. As well as that guy with the mustache Auburn had as a Dc who absolutely dominated.

kirby want's a head coaching job, but he's going to have to take a smaller head coaching job first....but since he evidently don't want to do that you might as well get used to seeing in crimson.

Jesus, this thread sucks.

Nobody has pointed out the obvious...both Quinn and Grantham are being entertained most likely due to the connections they made during EXTENSIVE NFL coaching careers. Both around 10 years if I'm not mistaken. Plus, Grantham has already been an NFL DC.

Smart has been coaching at the D1 level or NFL level for 8 years. Only one season in the NFL (importantly, under Saban). Hell, he's only had one season ever in that span that he didn't coach under Saban...and he didn't even coach the D, he was RBs coach at UGA.

In other words, Kirby isn't in the same stratosphere at the other two guys as far as the NFL is concerned.

Coach Smart has a nemisis on the other end of the state, and his name is Ellis Johnson.

Hell, if your main rival was an old frick who wears depends, gums mushed rutabagas and sweet potatoes for sustenance and works for about 4 hours a day, you'd stick around for the massive beatdown, too.

Yes.

Why? UF's HC was hired without HC experience and he seems to be doing fine. Muschamp was a well thought of DC at a major college program in a BCS conference. The exact same is the case for Kirby.

Muschamp unlike Kirby had a 5 year stint to prove that he could coach a defense without Saban.

With that said I personally feel Smart will do just fine as a head coach and I'm not so sure he hasn't turned down a few BCS level offers. He does have it pretty good where he is now and can be very selective in where/when he decides to take that next step.

Considering the job was Kirby's to take as long as he didn't demand a ridiculous amount (which he did to hold out for UA) <---- Heard from family friends of Kirby who are AU fans

Kirby ain't going nowhere. Bama is his to take when Saban leaves unless Bama decides to frick him over

Really? Coach connections only worked once for Alabama, then there was that dark period. Sorry, but there is no "coach in waiting" at Alabama and there never will be.

Shouldn't you be worried about a team going 3-9 last season?

smart and grantham have interviewed?

Philadelphia Eagles: Oregon defensive line coach Jerry Azzinaro will join Chip Kelly in the same role per Howard Eskin....who also reports that both Todd Grantham and Kirby Smart have interviewed with Chip Kelly for defensive coordinator. Interesting report to say the least.

Since when does having NFL experience make a difference? BVG came into your shitty program last year with plenty of NFL experience and somehow allowed Auburn to get worse.
