Overrated by who? lol Florida not ranked is overrated lmao.

Polls? I'm going to say MO, TAMU

UF should be unranked. The rest should be ranked. How will all play out? IDK.

How is Florida overrated? Most media outlets are predicting them to be somewhere between 3rd and 4th in the SEC east, between 7 and 9 wins at most. How is that overrated?

Clearly Overrated - Alabama/TAMU

Just about every major media outlet is picking them to win the SEC and they have very real short comings this year that are being overlooked because everyone is star gazing at their roster. On TAMU - they lose their best QB ever, their defense is terrible, and they are ranked? WTF?

Somewhat Overrated - South Carolina/Georgia

Most media outlets have them as either #1/#2 in the SEC and winning 10-11 games, depending on where you look. Both have very serious issues in the secondary, both are breaking in new starters at QB after losing some of the best QB's to ever play at either school. Please note, I said "somewhat."

Somewhat underrated - Auburn

Auburn returns probably the most complete team in the SEC, but some off the field issues and a tough schedule have people defaulting them to #2 in the SEC. I've only seen them picked as #1 in the west a few times.

Vastly underrated - Missouri

They lost a lot of production, but the fact that they are going from top 5 to unranked in a single off season, and a team like TAMU is actually ranked ahead of them, is just ridiculous.

Depends on by whose rating you compare.

The media consensus and preseason polls seem to have LSU 3rd in the SEC West behind Bama and Auburn and about 9-3 overall. That might be about right.

The consensus on this board (other than LSU fans) seems to have LSU 5th or 6th in the SEC West (behind Ole Miss, MSU and maybe Texas A&M, also) and about 6-6 or 7-5 overall. Using that rating, LSU is obviously underrated.

Of course, as always, the SEC Rant will pick LSU to go 7-6 and then say we underachieved when we go 10-3.

LSU is not underrated. Just because idiots on this board think LSU is going to be terrible that doesn't mean they are nationally underrated.

Considering they have to replace so much production on offense AND defense, and they are STILL being picked #3 in the west, above a number of other decent teams, including an Ole Miss team that beat them last year, that #3 spot looks juuuust right.

We are ranked to go about 6-6 right now, maybe 5-7 at number 36

If you finished the season receiving votes at 36, you could be 5-7? Wtf?

I'm willing to bet my entire house that a 5-7 Mississippi State doesn't finish receiving votes in the AP at 36th. Thus would qualify you for overrated.

I don't know if I would call Auburn underrated right now. We're right around 5-6 in all of the polls, and I think that is probably about right. Not to mention that with our schedule we could easily have a better team than last year and still drop 2-3 games in the regular season

Overrated - USCe

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Shaw is a HUGE loss. They are still one of the top 3 teams in the East but i don't believe they are the clear cut front runner like some believe.

Underrated - Mizzou

This is an obvious homer pick but i couldn't think of another SEC team that is underrated. Not predicting a repeat of last year, but likely better than most expect

how this team rebounds from all the injuries last season will determine much in the east...

That's fair, but I don't know that anyone is really picking us as the clear cut favorite. You hear everyone in the East (except Vandy and Kentucky) as the probable champ (most of the Vol prediction are coming from Vols, though... so take that for what its worth). All the preseason polls are BS. If we were down around 15 or so I wouldn't find that too hard to believe, honestly. I don't think anyone has really had a chance to show what they are going to do until the games start.

It is absurd that Missou is getting left off some of these though. They didn't lose much more than anyone else in the East and they have by far the easiest schedule.

Right now Bama is over-rated and expectations are geared toward a NC or bust this year. We have a mediocre OL without quality depth right now and QB looks like it's gonna be a real issue for the first time since Nick got the job.

preseason ranking are based off of recruiting as much as anything else. We have a different system when it comes to what we look for in players and it just doesn't agree with any recruiting service. not saying ours is better, just equally effective. I have just accepted the fact that Mizzou will never get any preseason love, which i am totally OK with haha

Missouri lost their best 3 WR, their QB, and their best RB. Only LSU lost more offensive production in the SEC last year.

They also lost more production on defense than anyone else in the SEC east except for maybe South Carolina.

There is a reason they aren't being picked to win anything, that being said, being left unranked is a bit ridiculous.
