"Bobby Dodd Stadium @Hyundai Field".

A chance for GT to earn some bucks from corporate sponsorship 'cuz they sure aren't earning any from the sheer number of fans not coming through their turnstiles.... LINK

“They should be the SEC!!!”

They’re closer to disbanding sports than being elite again in anything

Damn good deal for GT IMO. Get to keep the stadium name, and get 70 million over 20 years.

SEC teams get that amount in just one year.

Kidding aside, it is a good deal for GT, but I lament the change in the name. I'm a traditionalist.

Hyundai Field and Kroger Field just don't sound good.

USuCk's Founder's Park and Colonial Life Arena just sound better than Hyundai and Kroger.

Interesting, I wasn't aware of this situation until about 5 seconds ago by my off the cuff thought would be that tech fans would hate it. I've only known "grant field" my whole life so to have it change to something soulless and corporate just seems a bit icky.

its 55 million over 20 years, no?

So a cool 2.75m annually to sell your history to corporate America. I don’t see the appeal.

Edit: it is 70 mil. Still, 3.5m

You're going to see a lot more of this in the coming years. Ohio State has Safelite Field. UCF, Maryland, Syracuse, Louisville, Texas Tech all having naming rights to their football stadiums or fields. Basketball arenas have even more branding to them. Sounds like Grant Field will still be referenced across the stadium. Hyundai is spending a ton of money in the state. The massive EV plant they are building in Cartersville is something else.

$55 million for naming, plus another $15 million for other sponsorships across the athletic department. Also an unspecified amount of money for partnership on the academic side.

I think it sucks, but it is happening to everyone and Georgia is not immune.

You already have sold the rights to the coaches. You no longer have an offensive coordinator or defensive coordinator.

Mike Bobo - John and Alice Sands Offensive Coordinator
Glenn Schumann - Fain & Billy Slaughter Defensive Coordinator

Everything is for sale eventually.

Do you really think UGA is the only school to do this?

It's already made its way to the SEC.

Football:
Kroger Field (Kentucky)
FirstBank Field (Vanderbilt)

Basketball:
Colonial Life Arena (South Carolina)

Baseball:
Founders Park (South Carolina)
Blue Bell Park (Texas A&M)

I think they should do Paw Patrol concerts there so more people will see the name “Hyundai”.

7 times 10000 is only seventy thousand people seeing that ad.

Honestly not a bad deal for Georgia Tech. Other schools have done the same.

Isn't there an SEC school that has a title for their head coach?
