Having to hire Chaney to get Pittman is a steep price to pay. Good luck Georgia.

True. If we had to hire Chaney back to keep Pittman, Bert would help Pittman back his bags.

You do realize he coached Brees at Purdue, right?

You did see the word overall in my post right? Brees is a HOF. The rest of the Purdue offense not as talented..hard to understand?

You understand he had a great OL, 2 outstanding RBs, Brandon Allen, the best TE in the nation, and a solid core of WRs to work with at Arkansas, right?

UGA isn't Alabama...the talent there isn't that damn great...

Stop trying to convince yourself this is a good OC hire for UGA, because it isn't.

Yeah, I was just saying to myself that I'd take Cheney over Cam in a millisecond. Enos is better, but I don't think Cheney is exactly inept.

Good plan by Kirby to get Pittman if true.

Chaney will be gone after 1-2 seasons and Pittman will not follow because of the crappy destination where Chaney ends up.

They get to keep Pittman after only enduring 1-2 bad offensive seasons. He can blame those on "rebuilding".

I don't think its a great hire and never said it was...I do still think UGA has better players on offense than Arkansas...we put more in the NFL regularly and produce more points most years. Our current OC and QB sucks. The rest of the players are very talented and we will continue to pull them in at a higher rate than Arkansas. Get a decent QB and Chaney will have more to work with than before. Will he succeed? Who knows..he looks like he might die of a heart attack or something first..he needs to lose weight.

Sadly, this is what I'm banking on at this point. Either a) Chaney ends up magically a better OC than he has shown previously or b) One year in and Kirby pulls the trigger because they don't look great offensively.

Chaney's first year as a QB coach in his coaching career was the 2012 (Derek Dooley got fired) year where he was interim coach for the last game.

Prior to that everywhere he went as an OC along with TE or OL coach. His whole history is OL or TE.

Some how that last Dooley year turned Chaney into a QB coach and he has no clue about the position.

Chaney as a OC/QB coach
2012 - Tennessee
2013-2014 - Arkansas
2015 - Pittsburgh

That kinda sucks. Makes me kinda hope Pittman isn't coming and Chaney is OC/OL coach with a QB coach and play caller coming on board?

Chaney is a competent OC, probably the best Georgia could get.
