Georgia should improve by a few games based on schedule alone...

I won't talk about our actual team, that's discussion for a different thread. This is simply about our schedule, and if it is easier, harder, or the same as last year's.
1) Boise: Advantage- 2010. Last year we got ULL. Obviously Boise will be tougher. They do lose some key pieces and we get them in a glorified home game (the ticket allotment is not the same as the other kickoff classics). But clearly they will be tougher than ULL.
2) SC: Advantage- 2011. They return their 3 main players, but we get them at home. We were in it til the very end last year in Columbia, so I don't see how (schedule wise) this would be any harder getting them at home.
3) CC: Advantage- 2011. Last year this OOC game was Colorado. Even though they sucked, we had to go across the country to play them. CC at home is certainly a better situation.
4) @OM: Advantage- 2011. Last year this spot was Arkansas at home. I have no doubt Arky '10 is better than OM '11. And Oxford isn't exactly the hardest place to play.
5) MSU: Advantage- 2011. In addition to them losing their pretty darn good DC, we get them at home.
6) @UT: Advantage- 2010. Last year we played them at home with a new staff. This year, although they're still young, they should be improved and it's on the road.
7) @VU: Advantage- push. It's on the road....but it's vandy, and they're breaking in a new staff. Doesn't really matter.
8) @UF: Advantage- 2011. Remember this is just as compared to last year. This year, unlike last, we get the bye week prior to the cocktail party (which has given us some success in this series). Also, they'll be breaking in a new staff and a new system. I'm not saying we have the advantage over them, but 2011 sets up better for us than 2010 does.
9) NMSU: Advantage- push. A cupcake is a cupcake.
10) Auburn: Advantage- 2011. They lose a TON, and we get them at home.
11) UK: Advantage- 2011. They lose one of their best players this decade and we get them at home.
12) @GT: Advantage- 2010, I guess. Richt has never lost to GT in Atlanta, but still it's nicer to play at home than on the road.
So that's 7 games this year where our situation is better than it was last year, 2 that are basically the same, and 3 where our situation is worse. With even moderate improvement by our team we should have a significantly better record, especially considering that every one of our losses last year wasn't decided until late.

You all will lose AJ Green thats a HUGE Disadvantage

Right, but as I mentioned this isn't about our team it's about strictly the schedule. Also keep in mind we didn't have AJ the first 4 games and we were only down 1 possession @SC with 2 minutes left, were tied with Arkansas with under a minute left, and were only down by 1 in the 4th quarter @MSU. It's not like we were getting blown out even without AJ.

True that. UGA - AJG last year was MUCH worse than UGA + AJG.

No doubt, but again this is just about our schedule, not the team.

You do have your 4 home SEC games in Athens in 2011. That should help, also.

We play 8 games in Georgia (only 6 though in Sanford), get the bye before Florida, have the easiest west schedule you can possibly have, and only have 3 real, true road games. And all of them are very winnable. The schedule sets up very well for us.

It sucks UGA had their chance to win not to long ago but they fell short.

Boise will beat Georgia in Georgia.

8-4/7-5 type season. This is Richt's last season in Athens IMO.

We didn't get the luck other teams got. 03 LSU, 06 UF, and 08 UF all had 1 loss but things fell into place for them. I won't even mention 07 LSU. In 2002 I have no doubt we were the best team in the country and would've beaten anyone in a bowl game, but we had the tough luck of having 2 undefeateds ahead of us. But hey, that's the way it works when you lose. Nothing you can do but win the games you play.

If we don't win the east I think he's gone. If we go 8-4 of 7-5 like you predict there is absolutely no doubt in my mind he's gone.

True but not as much as you might think. Green has missed a lot of games for us over the last 3 years and has never had a 1000 yard season. He was suspended for 4 games this past season and was injured in the first half of the Colorado game. A.J. also missed several games during the '09 season due to injury and only scored 6 TD's; Caleb King scored 7 TD's that season sharing time with Ealey. Green's best year was probably his Freshman season with 963 yards and 8 TD's. Yes, Green will be missed but he could have contributed at a much higher level than he did. Durham picked up most of his slack in the first 4 games of 2010. We should be fine on offense next season. I am much more concerned about our fledgling defense.

He has been there a while. The days of coaching at a school for 20+ years are long gone. Richt has done all he could for UGA and yall are stuck in the mud. The right new coach could land yall a BCS trophy.

I think Georgia wins 9,possible 10 games, and will be in position to win the east.why? Offensive line should be better,as will their defense.By seasons end,I think their qb played better than any other qb in sec, with the exception of lsu and bamas qb.

I see 5 losses at most in BSU, SC, MSU, UF, and UT. One thing about all those games as well, as you could consider them all toss ups. So let's say you win 3 of them and lose 2, you're looking at a 10 win season and Richt staying. Your 2 losses are to UF and USCe IMO.

Why those 2 teams? Your name is tigerbama, so I assume you're just making a double homer pick...but why in the world would you think 2 QBs who have never gotten significant PT before (and 1 who has yet to even take a 1A snap!) would be better than perhaps the top returning QB in the conference.
