What about firing him for failing to win an SEC game?

But he won one. That's plenty.

The buyout can't even be that much. I'd just pay him to leave. Not worth the court battle and a lot of other shite comes out in those, with all the sports on campus. UGA doesn't want that smoke. No school does. See LSU paying O

I'm not liking this "for cause" trend going on in college sports coaching these days.

Athletics Departments and all involved agreed to terms. They were all happy with those agreements. If/when it doesn't work out don't start looking for any reason at all to stiff them on the way out the door. That's just shitty.

Following in steps of 10nrC. Aubs tried it but backed off for now. This is getting to be a pattern. Hate your coach you owe big buyout, just drum up something and fire for cause and fight it in court. I hope one of these coaches score a huge settlement and shut this down. Either pay the man or pay the man. Don’t be a douch.

Is being quite literally inept and unqualified not “cause” enough?

No. Please don’t fire him. He’s just about to get it going!

I’m not liking these $100M fully guaranteed contracts either. Works both ways. The Jimmy Sextons of the world started this nonsense

Nobody is forced to sign. I agree they are stupid but only if you sign it. It’s always easy to spend others money.

Coaches should have W/L expectations put in their contracts and if they fail to meet those standards then they are fired for cause.

They kinda are now. Agents have fricked the market so hard, ADs don’t really have a choice unless they’re ok not being able to sign a coach. Manufacturing cause to fire someone is not terribly surprising.

Should have fired him for cause when he ran off the entire team from last year.

This was a dead man walking season from the start after almost all of the team transferred.

Only reason he wasn't fired is because his buyout is ridiculous until after this season, if it wasn't this, he was going to be fired anyway in a few weeks when the buyout dropped.

Imagine being so bad that you might not get any of your buyout. As that could be the case here.
