LSU was the better team and would have beaten UGA in January when we were healthy. That said, we were banged up in the Sec Champ. and lucked out that Tenn was in the game and not UGA. UGA most likely would have gotten us in December with all of the injuries.
That said, who cares? LSU could make the same case in 2006. UF beat us earlier in the year, but there's a good chance we would have beaten them if we got a rematch in Atlanta, and then gone on to stomp Ohio State.
UGA shouldnt have gotten destroyed by freaking Tennessee...end of argument.

2007 and 2011 we're not the same year. Everyone stumbled at some point in the season in 2007. In 2011, we truly had two dominant teams who clearly were the two best in the nation. Other teams had a chance in 2011 but lost late that year whom could have still stayed ahead of Bama but they choked. Pretty much everyone choked in their own way in 2007 whether it be LSU losing to arky at end of regular season or Georgia getting blasted by UT and not winning their division. Only reasoning that voters could use was most deserving teams in it which would still be LSU vs OSU given the situation the voters were in. OSU played nobody and by only losing one game backed into it also the conf champs and the one loss was most appealing and least controversial choice of the two choices.
I guess Georgia fans are wanting the same treatment Bama got in 2011 being the one of the two best teams. In 2007, Media was more inclined to make their reasonings based on deserving instead of best teams bc no one looked dominant the whole year as LSU and Bama had looked in 2011.

quote:Alabama needed about 3/5 of the votes to get in in 2011, and they got almost all of them. 2007 Georgia wouldn't have gotten in if they had gotten every single vote from the media/coaches/Harris because their computer rating was so low. What people don't realize is that the media had nothing to do with Georgia's exclusion. They proved on the field that they weren't good enough.

Sticking with OP's question, if UGA did play LSU at the end of the season, UGA would have won that one. LSU had a better overall season. The UT loss killed any chances for UGA
