You have to understand the thought process for a typical UGA fan. They pretty much hate and belittle any coach or player who leaves the program for any reason
And that being said, no player or coach who leaves the pearly gates of Athens will ever amount to anything anywhere else. Especially if they did not work out at Georgia
So that means, Grantham, who was loved when he come to Athens, will never be worth a shite anywhere and you suck for hiring him

SOmething else to be wary of, however...
Granthams NFL-style defense needs talent. The scheme is worthless without the right personnel in place.
If you don't have a dominant nose tackle that commands two blocks, and you don't have a headhunter at OLB, the whole scheme falls to shite.
At it's core, it's a 3-4 defense that subs out to 3-3-5 with a linebacker-safety hybrid as the "nickel" or "star" on obvious passing downs.
There are alot more reads and on-field playcalling by your defensive captain than a typical college defense. Doesn't do well against HUNH for this reason. And rebuilding years really hurt, needs a good mix of upperclassmen and lowerclassmen in the rotation so your system experts don't all graduate the same year.
You've really got to have solid players for his scheme to work. It's sort of an all or nothing deal.
This also plays into recruiting, because it really is NFL style, and his players transition to the NFL really well. Recruits who are already looking ahead to the NFL are receptive to this.
