Women's sports are fine, and they should definitely be included in the overall portfolio of an University's athletic department. However, I get pretty tired of sports networks hyping them up to try to be on par with men's sports. The product just isn't the same.
For example the US Women's National Soccer team lost to the Under 16 USA Boy's Soccer team a few months ago. They lost to a team of 14 and 15 year olds.

I totally get that- I just thought it was more of an upbeat positive 'you go girl' type of thing (nothing to do with man vs woman) but maybe I am misguided.
It's not upbeat at all. The bitchy "Yeah, we're over it!" line implies someone is criticizing them for playing sports, trying to prevent them from playing or... something. It's not clear. What or whom are they protesting against?? Bad commercial.

It is a snowflake commercial trying to dumb our society down to no distinction in gender.
Just one of many commercials set to air over the next several months. There is an article about it floating around. The message is that society needs to stop distinguishing genders and it has to do with the NCAA not hosting events in states that do not support gender neutering, ahem, I mean gender-neutral issues such as bathrooms etc by trying to convince more of the populous to care less about genders.

Does this commercial imply we have a well know transgender playing somewhere?
Yeah. We've all known for awhile.
But it's cool. You gotta be yourself.

I love to see a female play linebacker in the SEC. Try to tackle a guy like Derrick Henry or fournette.
Luckily you don't have to wonder what that looks like. Just watch the Texas A&M defense play.

quote:Naw. There's an anger very evident in that commercial. It isn't meant to be a pep rally for women's sports.
I really don't know- drum up interest in women college athletics?

implies to me that sports shouldn't be separated by gender
They are going to have to increase the size of that small softball field when the guys start killing pitchers and hitting the ball 200 feet over the wall.
Why is it so hard to admit that overall men are stronger, faster and well just athletically different than women. It's not an insult to women for them to have their own sports separate from men.

Not sad, just realistic. I have always been that way.
In this instance I have given up on Texas A&M ever having a good defense ever again. The problem is the raw materials, these Texas boys are too big of pussies to hit someone. Even a guy like Chavis can't coach it out of them the given the limited time he has with them.
We need a guy like a Chip Kelly who can take those pussies and turn every game into a basketball game or we don't stand a chance. Luckily for us the rules (and law suits) in the sport are moving things in that direction so actually I am pretty optimistic for the future. The closer college football gets to flag football the better Texas A&M will do.
