Any indication of Duke cheating?

Cory admitted under oath he took money from a street agent and Duke still has the NC. Kid had the 100,000 K jewelry suit that went away and Duke still has the Butler NC. Schools in the ACC have been cheating since at least the 50's and 60's but it always seems to get swept under the rug.

Duke used the Ivy League method for ages where they paid you after you graduated and you had sugar daddies while at school.

NCAA gives UNC, Duke, UCLA, Arizona, and others the umbrella

Got any evidence of Duke wrongdoing?

UNC is currently undergoing an institutional enema that will more than likely result in NCAA sanctions. The NCAA's current incompetence in investigations does not mean UNC has an umbrella.

You just sound like a bitter fan.

How are Duke UNC UCLA and Arizona not "top" basketball schools?

Former Duke basketball player Corey Maggette admitted in a sworn statement that he accepted $2,000 in the form of cash payments and expense money in 1997 from a high school summer league coach.

Myron Piggie coached Maggette's summer AAU team, which included former UCLA player JaRon Rush, Missouri sophomore Kareem Rush, Oklahoma State sophomore Andre Williams and pro Korleone Young. On May 23, Piggie admitted paying these five athletes a total of $35,550.

Lance Thomas purchased five pieces of diamond jewelry at a cost of $97,800 on Dec. 21, 2009, in the middle of his senior season, according the lawsuit. Documents included with the suit indicate he made a $30,000 down payment and received $67,800 in credit from the firm, the balance that remains unpaid.
Thomas started 39 games at forward during the 2009-2010 season, including the Blue Devils' 61-59 victory over Butler in the national championship game. He wasn't drafted by an NBA team but played for the New Orleans Hornets last season.

With family who attended Duke and played in the ACC it is more than a "bitter fan" as you imply. It is watching this happen since probably before you were born.

So you've got some stories about an AAU coach not affiliated with Duke and what looks to likely be a booster who likely didn't tell the university he was paying a player.

That kind of stuff happens at every major program in the country. Punishment is a matter of getting caught and whether there's evidence that will stick. I promise you that UK's not getting a raw deal from the NCAA.

They do not have a good basketball program. They have an elite program that could find it's way (and may already have) into the legendary status.

Settle down. They aren't even close to legendary right now.

This part I agree with

This is where we disagree. Some schools get hammered, and some don't. There is separate and unequal in who and how the NCAA pursues enforcement.

I am not singling out just UK. I am saying there seems to be a "naughty" and "nice" list at the NCAA on who they pursue. If the NCAA wanted good PR and respect they go after everybody with equal effort. Even casual folks who were alive back in the Papa Sam days knew what was going on, but UCLA never took a single hit.

Southern Cal was the modern poster child for the death penalty in " loss of institutional control" in not only was there problems in Southern Cal football, but it was rampant throughout most of their sports programs (I think they found issues in even volleyball and tennis - seriously, who has to cheat in volleyball). They pursed the football slowly, and I think the basketball but let the other stuff slide. If Kansas has been that guilty across the board to you think they would have gotten off as lightly as Southern Cal did?

He basically already took an NBA job once and flirted with taking the Kentucky job.

I am like 99% sure he leaves at some point in the near future.

I had UCLA in bracket, bet Florida (-4.5) and was still pissed at the end of the game. In the last 6 or so minutes, it seemed like 15+ out of 20 whistles blown went in favor of Florida. That is complete and utter horse shite. UF probably still would have won, but damn the refs all the hell.

The post implied both groups were top basketball schools but fell into 2 distinct subgroups

a) top basketball schools that get the spotlight of scrutiny
b) top basketball schools that get the umbrella from scrutiny

They will have made it to the Elite 8 four straight years.

How about if they win it all this year?

I love how people find some way to mock them about this. Blows my mind.

Calipari could be on the verge of his 3rd Final Four in 4 years......

Any way you look at it, gator bball is on a heckuva run. So is Kentucky, for that matter, but that's not new. Florida is brand new to this, but I think they will be staying.
