No... no they don't.

Everyone agrees that he doesn't use his hands well or use pass rushing moves.

Everyone also agrees that he plays light in the arse even though he's big and strong.

It's called being unbiased and watching tape.

And in the "bottom line" section, something I've said for a long time:

quote:

Good size, but he's never likely going to be a hold-your-ground run defender, and might be best suited as an outside linebacker.

He's not a 4-3 DE in the NFL. 3-4 OLB all the way.

Garrett has the physical tools necessary to be a great NFL pass rusher.

The motor is questionable, like Clowney's was, but he can do it.

Get over what? I think he's just saying garrett isn't very good vs the run

Obviously he's a great pass rusher

How is that worse than anything Clowney did at South Carolina in his last season?

Clowney was injury plagued his first few years in the NFL, but he had a great season last year and with Watt Houston will have two great pass rushers.

Garrett will be fine if he puts in the commitment. He has all the tools.

I agree with all of that. I'm simply agreeing with the poster that Garrett was not very good vs the run in college, especially against LSU.

Hell they throw it 50X a game in the NFL anyways so he's primed.

He also never choked anyone out. He made that up, clearly. The link I posted had every snap he played.

Garrett and Clowney aren't comparable. Clowney dominated in the run game and could physically whoop offensive linemen. Garrett plays patty-cake.

Physical, maybe. Garrett is very raw in terms of hand usage, block shedding technique, run defense, and pass rush moves. I've seen Garrett rush up field a ton when it was a run play and the RB flies past him. That's something that HS players get taught not to do.

He was rated as the #3 edge player in run defense by Pro Football Focus last year.

I will not say Garrett will be a bust in the NFL, but his play in the SEC should show he should not be a number 1 overall pick.

I haven't seen that list. Do you have a link?

I'm not shitting on the guy, because I think he's going to be a solid NFL player. But I do agree with many that he put up big numbers vs mediocre competition.

I think he probably plays better and more motivated vs LSU of the game is earlier in the year.
