Honest question: if the eye actually makes landfall, doesn't that usually slow the travel speed of the hurricane down? Meaning it could be lingering around longer than everyone has thought?
You should already know the answer, LSU fan/hurricane weather expert.

Guys.. we are talking about Florida people making decisions. The Floridians are ridiculed daily on the OT for decisions just like this or some other extremely stupid decision. Just accept that you can't fix stupid.

Actually the weather is usually pretty nice after a hurricane passes.
The thing is Jim Cantore is in Fl...run..shut the whole state down and run...
I think Katrina was bigger is size but my house in Mandeville is about 78 miles from where the eye hit
We did not have power for about a week because of all of the trees that were knocked down.
But now bc of Katrina I think governments are a little better prepared but I do not think any big sporting event should be taking place in FL this weekend
Hopefully we can. Those planning to ride this out be careful, do not put your generator inside (I know but people do)

While local and state government officials in Louisiana are routinely lauded on the poli board for their forward thinking and sound decision making.

You said no one. That would include people in Florida, right? Don't be a dumbass. This board has been inundated with condescending L5U fans thinking they have to educate Floridians about hurricanes.

Relax bud, LSU fans aren't up in arms over how well Florida knows a hurricanes...fans are upset because
1) There may not be a way to fight against traffic Friday/Saturday
2) Florida has made no plan B and is basically banking on everything being fine 24 hours after the storm.
3) The thought of workers, officials, police, EMT's being put in game when there's the potential they are needed elsewhere is idiotic.
4) Play the game in Tampa...play it anywhere but don't just sit on your arse and "hope" everything is going to be fine.
"Plan for the worst, hope for the best"

I just don't want this game cancelled shite move it to Tampa
Look at the map for two seconds and you can see that Tampa is under a TS watch for Friday night. This game either needs to be played in BR or it will be cancelled.
Second year in a row LSU will play an 11-game season. All because UF can't get their heads out of their asses and do what needs to be done.

I love this idea that only people in Louisiana understand hurricanes and the rest of us are just uneducated noobs. Yea, people in MS/AL/FL/GA/SC know nothing about hurricanes and their effects. We've never dealt with them before. Please continue to educate all of us.

Then the Florida people should apply that understanding and make a backup plan. Thanks for your insightful post.
