Not really. It would have been about a 45 yard attempt IIRC, and our placekicker is far from automatic at that range. Freeze judged our chances were better to pick up two yards. We had been moving the ball well on that drive. If Treadwell plunges forward, or if we get a better spot, it's a first down with momentum. It's not a "dumb call" just because it didn't work; Bama did a good job of stopping it.

Yeah he needed touchdowns on those later ones because they didnt convert points on the first one. I still think those last two still would have been helpful. You never know when you might get a timely turnover on defense. Heck Ole Miss was a lucky bounce away from getting two Bama fumbles.

I thought both defenses played a good physical game with the exception of OM giving up two big plays

Running from the shotgun on the 1 foot line and maybe the first 4th down are the only calls I would question.

Ole Miss is a program on the rise but we're not close to Bama's level yet.

I agree. Alabama's running game is well below the standard that has been set the past 5 seasons. Alabama's defense looked good yesterday, but that one game does not mean they have met the standard of Saban defenses either.

Was going for it on 4th down responsible for Alabama's two long touchdown runs? Field goals weren't going to win the game for Ole Miss yesterday.

Freeze should have definitely taken the points. The score would have been 9-16 with 10 or so minutes left in the 4th. That's if they make the long one.

Even if they didn't make the long field goal it would have been 6-16 10 minutes in the 4th. Always take the points on the road. He really took any belief his team had and crushed it by continuing to go for it on 4th down

In no way am I saying Ole Miss could have won that game but geez at least give your team a reason to keep playing. I bet he doesn't have second thoughts about kicking it from now on.

Freeze has historically been very aggressive on going for it on 4th down. He may become more conservative in certain situations but I don't see him changing his stance too terribly much

Auburn, LSU or A&M

Ole Miss has more than a shot at all of those teams.

Unfortunately I think freeze panicks in big games when a big conversion is needed. He falls back on the plays that he's comfortable with. He called a really really bad game last night in both play calls and decisions. This is becoming a common theme in big games. I will support the hell out of him but if he doesn't get his shite together in these big games then the fan base will turn on him.

I think he needs to bring in a really experienced offensive mind to help him out. He clearly chokes when it's nutt cutting time.
