Scherff is a Guard in the NFL, which makes Barnett's "feat" less impressive.

Disagree. You don't take on OL #5 to play him at Guard. Only OT get taken top 10. He would be a dominant OG and may start off there while he adjusts to the NFL but he will end up a LT. He has plenty of size to play OT, smart enough to play LT, tons of athleticism and speed for his size. He has everything you want in a LT and all the tools to be all pro at the position.

In a normal year, yes. But this draft sucks. You've got a RB with a blown knee going in the Top 10, a second RB going just 5 picks later (its been 5 years since two RBs were selected Top 15). You've got multiple guys injured and still going 1st round (Ogbuehi). You've got guys with huge red-flags off the field barely budging in draft stock. You've got a guy with no position (Shaq Thompson) going 25th overall.

Even with all that shite Scherff was still a reach at #5. There is not a chance in hell that he is a LT in the NFL. Good player, but he doesn't have the feet or natural movement skills to play LT in the NFL. He struggled with explosive edge rushers in college.

Vernon Gholston dominated Jake Long during Long's last collegiate season, how did both work out in the NFL? Doesnt mean much.

let me guess, the only game of his you watched in his career was Iowa's bowl game against Tennessee where he was matched up with Barnett? Yeah he struggled that game, but he still didn't give up much. Not sure what his deal was that game but he looked like he didn't care, most uninspired game I've seen him play.

I'm an Iowa fan too and I've probably seen 90% of the games he's played in his career. Scherff absolutely has the feet to play LT. Greg Robinson may be the only OT I've seen in college that moves better than Scherff does. He's fast as hell for his size and is constantly in the second level and gets down field like a TE. He was a dual threat QB in HS for crying out loud. He's played plenty of elite DE's in his career and hasn't lost many battles. His game against Tennessee was aberration, not the norm. And as somebody who watches Iowa regularly it looked like he didn't care, and it wasn't just him it seemed the coaches had lost the whole team and they had all given up that game. Also Barnett is more of a bull rusher than a speed rusher so Scherff's struggles there suggest he would struggle more on the inside. He manhandled LSU's speed rushers the year before which is probably the only other game of his SEC fans may have seen

ETA:
Also it's not much of a "reach" at #5 when not one expert had him dropping further than #10 and most had him at #7

Scherff and that other OT form Iowa last year got worked by LSU in the Capital one bowl too.

over drafted, but they are probably both guards at the next level.

still top 5 is a joke.

How much do you follow the draft? Because you're about the only person on the planet (save for maybe Scherff's parents and close relatives) who thinks that he's an NFL LT. Go look up any scouting report or scout's take and they'll all say the same thing. Good player, really strong, but he doesn't have the length or mobility (NOT "SPEED" LMFAO) to play LT. The fact that he was a shitty "dual-threat quarterback" means literally nothing. His mobility issues are apparent on film, hence why a true freshman (Barnett) ran circles around him.
