But did he score from 79 yards out? Doubt it.

Triggering the LSU fans over preseason Fournette will give you the boost you need to secure off-season champ.

I mean the full quote isn't that bad and actually makes sense. The problem is Fournette is learning that the media doesn't give a shite what the full quote is if you give them even the smallest bit to slice and dice into a nice sounbite/joke/controversy and neither will opponents who only hear that soundbite and the media's presentation of it.

He broke maybe one tackle and had two spin moves, other than that all he did was hit the hole with no breakaway

That tends to happen on 3rd and 4th and short and goal line situations. He fell forward for a couple of yards after first contact on every run, hit the correct holes, and picked up first downs and touchdowns when given the ball. He did what he was asked to do in his limited carries and looked good doing it. Anyone trying to take much away from a preseason game is a moron. Intentionally mis-characterizing what Fournette said about the speed of the NFL is equally moronic.

He did, and I said this. He did not break any tackles though(which is what I was quoting)

He didnt do anything special. It was the first game and a fricking preseason game. We wont know anything until later on, but there are no positives or negatives to take away from the game

he averaged 6 yards per carry vs Arkansas last year with 3 TDs, and 2 receptions for 44 yards

Actually it was 5.7 against the Hogs worst defense in history. Previous years:

2015 19 attempts for 91 yards 4.8 avg in a LOSS

2014 5 attempts for 9 yards 1.8 avg in a LOSS

Stellar numbers there against the Pigs. He did improve every year.

The only takeaway is that he didn't look bad, showed that he has the ability to run through contact at this level (although I wouldn't advise that he do this on a consistent basis if he wants to have a long career), and he showed great acceleration to the hole. But, like you said, we're talking about 9 carries in the first preseason game.

as well as 36 yards receiving. Pretty good game IMO. Arkansas held Henry in check in 2015 as well.

Not in regards to the hype he received his entire career. Nice how you say held HH "in check". He didn't have to do much considering our rushing game dominated LSU.

Collins 16 for 141 2 TD
Walker 17 for 88
Cornelius 2 for 71 1 TD

31-14 but congrats on holding Henry in check.

He might be smart to hold off on such comments until pre-season is over and a true flavor of the NFL is presented to him.

Yeah, I remember Spurrier running up the score in his first preseason. Then reality hit.

This comment will not go over well.

Fournette has always come off as being fairly slow off the field.

What's the big deal here?

There are two things going on:

1) The NFL takes the fastest players from college at their positions in general.

2) It's all downhill after college as far as foot speed goes. Odds are that unless you were a talented oddball in college who wasn't in shape but who got serious in the NFL, every year you play you get a little slower.

You get injuries. You put on weight. You just get older and slow down.

Wouldn't really surprise me at all if LSU's rb's or db's were faster than what he has on his NFL team. Not as good I'm sure, but faster? Yeah, I can see it, at least for the ones who play a lot.

Darrell Green running that 4.4 or whatever it was past 50 is unusual for a lot of reasons.

The NFL being fast has less to do with speed and more to do with reaction time.
