Wow. This is the most overblown shite I have ever seen. I remember being a freshman in college, and doing a bunch of stupid shite. Granted I wouldn't ever do something like this, but come on. You cause more harm to the public by getting in your car and driving drunk and i'm sure most of us all have done that.

I'm sure it was a bunch of people together talking about how this would be funny, and they just got drunk and did it. I'm sure when they woke up they were thinking frick we shouldn't of done that. Everyone has been there at some point in time. I'm not saying this doesn't deserve punishment..it does.

The futures of these kids are already ruined, and giving 6 months in prison is absolutely absurd. He harmed no one..and your saying he deserves 6 months prison time by scaring them. What he did was not right by any means, but damn this country has turned into a bunch of sensitive pussies.

It's threads like this that do not provoke thought or rational thinking. These threads bring out the worse type of folks imaginable because they "think" they are operating under anonymity. Here's a secret - you are not anonymous.

Neither are you pathetic arse White Guilters and racists from the terrorist group, BLM.

This topic should not even be here. This is a Political Board topic.

I disagree. Ole Miss has to deal with living under a microscope when it comes to racial issues and you have out of state dumbasses that come in and don't care. They go do stuff like this and it makes us look bad. I'm glad he got this sentence.

I haven't read through the whole thread so I'm sure someone else brought this up, but helping repair the image of Ole Miss should have zero effect on what the sentence was for this kid.

With that said I can't say I feel bad for him

That is also NOT protected speech or expression.

I think the kid needed some jail time to get that bullshite out of his system. Going light on this guy would not have done him any favors and I certainly would not want to be the judge who let a racist jackass off easy in Mississippi.

Okay, fine. From here on out anyone of ANY RACE speaks hatefully toward another race, then they get jail time. Got it, thanks. I bet only white people will be seeing jail time though.

Meh. Just because he was "a drunk kid playing a dumb prank" doesn't excuse what he did.

Nobody said this is excusable. He should get punished but not prison.

seriously, stfu. AT the end of the day, this is about justice, not some public image thing about Ole Miss. The DA in Lafayette County said there is no applicable statute in MS to charge him with anything, so of course Eric fricking Holder decides to charge the kid with a felonious civil rights charge. This is about the kids life, not your football team or the racist image of Ole Miss. Sentencing a kid to 6 months in federal prison for this is a joke, sorry.

When you're under the microscope like Ole Miss is because of it's past, you have to push for actions like this.

In that case, might I suggest a public execution? That will really show how tough Ole Miss is on racism and deter future racists.

Would they be the same fans that are outraged over the NCAA over reach in dealing with Tunsil?

It will certainly do more than letting him off easy with a fine and letting him back into school.

kicking him out of school would be appropriate. sending him to federal prison is a joke

Ole Miss expelled him, and rightly so. The guy was a racist idiot who I didn't want representing my university.

But to go to jail over this? Absolutely no. I can't think of anything that was technically illegal.

And what's going to happen in the long term? First off, we're burning 20k of the taxpayers dime to incarcerate him for really no reason. Then he's either going to get the dog shite kicked out of him daily in prison, or he's going to join the Aryan Brotherhood for protection. Either way he's going to be even more racist at the end of this. Instead they should have had him doing community service helping out impoverished minorities, and then he may have developed sympathy for their plight. Instead he's going to come out of this ruined and even more bigoted.

And fantastic job by his attorney BTW. Who would ever hire that guy?

Meh. No telling how much money he cost Ole Miss with his little stunt. Definitely scared some students off I'm sure. So he himself possibly cost the university hundreds of thousands of dollars.

then ole miss can sue him, good luck proving damages

But when Ole Miss does something to punish such actions and distance ourselves from that troubled past, they're called "Pathetic"?

Ole Miss didn't sentence the kid. Ole Miss didn't charge the kid. The United States AG pushed for this. Stop making this about Ole Miss
