Worth noting that Auburn slow played Tre Mason before taking his commitment one week before Signing Day. He didn't have a firm offer until late January. This was right around the time Brent Calloway went off the grid before National Signing Day. Dee Hart and Mike Blakely (eventually transferred to Auburn and flamed out) went elsewhere to enroll early and Brent Calloway chose Auburn due to chance to play RB, but Peaches had other plans. Tre Mason landed firm offer and committed.
Dee Hart was a bust at Alabama and stayed injured, transferred to Colorado State, had a quality season and disappointed at the NFL Combine. Mike Blakely enrolled at Florida, transferred to Auburn, became a huge bust and transferred elsewhere. Brent Calloway flip-flopped from Alabama to Auburn, then back to Alabama. He later became an h-back, beat the snot out of some students, and got kicked off the team (among other arrests). Tre Mason went on to be an SEC Champion, a Heisman finalist, and a record breaker. He is now the starting running back for the St Louis Rams.

I know his Uncle, who played for UA Hoops in the 80's, and he said he didn't deserve to be on the team after that first arrest a few years back.

Yeah but you weren't too happy about it. Whatever happened to that Lee dude from Auburn Rivals (I think it was Rivals) who went on the radio and said Bama paid for Calloway and he had evidence and he would expose it all later in the week.
