I think they are average and have a lot of trouble covering receivers.

Then you haven't been watching Auburn this year.

The only good team they have played is Clemson

Umm...A&M has looked pretty good. Especially on O.

I see this as being pretty close. I do feel like Carlton Davis has developed into an exceptional DB and would push the group a bit better than 8th.

Knowing the source he's probably watched on replay more of us than any Auburn people on here but just sees what he wants to see

Same.

But I should also say thank you.

One team had to turn the corner and get their season going.

And the other team had to win and be stuck with a mediocre coach.

I'm fairly impressed so far. As far as conference rank goes, I would say upper third for sure. The D line's ability to impact the QB has been most impressive.

Going to be interesting to see how they do on the road. Moo State is pretty bad so it is a great chance to ease into a very hard road schedule down the stretch.

Definition of irrelevant. Auburn's had three ranked opponents in 4 weeks. The only one on that list above them with more than one is Georgia. (No, I'm not counting 1-3 USC as a ranked opponent)

Who are AU's 3 ranked opponents?

Yeah...LSU is no longer ranked. Only 2 ranked teams. But that appears to be 2 very good ranked teams that have weighed down AU's D statistics. Anyone that has watched Auburn can see that the D has made huge strides. Top third for sure. Rankings will reflect that by the end of the season.

Our offense on the other hand...

Defensive line is salty.

Don't know much about your secondary, but they, seemingly at least, stood up to the Clemson and A&M passing games, although neither of those teams can sling it like years' past.

Just to play the devil's advocate,

Do you think some teams are playing it close to the vest on offense knowing our red zone issues?

I do think all levels of our defense are improved. We certainly have quality depth on defensive line and the LBs have been the best I've seen in several years at AU. Steele, Williams, garner and mcgriff deserve credit.

6th in the SEC according to pt/gm.

10. Florida
16. Alabama
18. Texas AM

But when you also have to consider that every team has played atrocious offenses.

Scoring Defense / Team / Average Opp Scoring Offense
10. Florida 82.75
16. Alabama 81
18. Texas AM 86.33
21. LSU 78.67
24. South Carolina 78.5
28. Auburn 75.5
