ok, then I'll modify the words to say only BCS Crystal Trophy. Fair enough. You knew what I meant, but to be technically correct, I'll concede the technicality. Now, answer the question.

The coaches' trophy, which has that crystal football on it, was given out long before the BCS came along. Try and keep up.

Bama has 2 Crystal Trophies: 2009 and 2011 seasons.

Dude, you're trying way to hard.

On the matter of the topic, yes, you could say that. But you'd only have that claim for one year because then Bama is gonna win another.

Yeah, I conceded that Bama's coaches trophy back in 1992 with Stallings was indeed Crystal. I meant BCS Crystal Trophy and should have included the BCS. I updates it based on conceded this failure to qualify the crystal only part, but the rest of the post is valid.

LSU gonna go 14-0 next year

True. Since I am working off of a big IF for 2012, then, you could in turn give an even bigger IF for the 2013 season, and then re-claim the best in the SEC and nation under that turn of events.

You're not actually a rocket scientist, are you?

LSU pre 2000s sucked more than a stripper on Bourbon street. Calling them the best team of the modern era is a joke even if it is only the past 25 years. Plenty of way better programs out there to consider

The answer is no.
And my question for you is...What team has a chance to win their third BCS title in the last four years.
You've got your arbitrary timeframes, I have mine.

this thread did not go well for him

We could then talk ad naseum about a shitty schedule and how someone else is more deserving of playing in their place.

Actually 1992 was the forerunner of the BCS. It was the first year where the #1 and #2 teams were brought together to play for the national championship. BCS chronology on the BSC site.

Bama has won 2 BCS crystals since LSU won their last one. Florida, Auburn and Alabama have all won them since LSU's last one. And if we are talking a 25 year time span, why do only BCS trophy's count since the BCS only started in 98? GTFO.

If that happens, no one would consider disputing such an achievement, so I'll play along. The difference is that you will not play along with my scenario. You know what I mean, and you won't address the hypothetical. If Bama wins in 2012 and can claim 3 out of 4 years, that is an entirely different situation and I would be the first to fully recognize it.

No disputing that. That is outside of the context of this discussion. Perhaps in another discussion, it is valid.
At the immediate timeframe, Bama has the best program without question (thanks Jordan Jefferson and CLM). Under my case, which would be valid, it shifts to LSU based on winning 30% in a decade and the most recent BCS trophy, with a strong returning team in 2013.
