Rivalry = hate.

It has the beginning to a rivalry for sure. Lots of the elements needed. I do NOT hate LSU, and it will take a -lot- more auburn type fans to get the job done. I just don't think LSU has it in them to make me hate them.

The LSU/Bama game is a huge game now, alot on the line when these teams play.

I don't hate LSU, your coaches, your players, your fans enough to consider it as a "hated rivalry". I like a lot of your players, Mo Claiborne in '11, and Sam Montgomery in '12. I have a lot of respect for Miles and the program he is running.

Honestly, your fans (that I've come in contact with) are great. They offer you the best food and liquor and are just fun to tailgate with, even if you are a total stranger wearing enemy clothing.

Now Choctaw is a huge homer and most everything he posts here is complete bullshite because of it, but this is a rivalry, and it is the number 2 game I want to win behind Auburn every year. If you lives in this swamp with these heathens, you would feel the same way.

First, to be clear, I think that bama's QB is all that is good bout college football. But then, so was T.Tebow. Yet, bama fans mocked & ripped him for crying after their big game that yr. Here, it was just their QB leaving it all out on the field.

Best two programs in college football.

True. It has become the best rivalry in college football. Also the most intense.

Would be so much cooler without all the Saban hate though. LSU needs to act like they've been there before.

LSU blew their wad and will continue to lose to Bama for the foreseeable future as both programs head in opposite directions.

Don't fret though, because we're on our way up and we'll take you back.

You must be ruhtarded. We are at the very least step for step with bama. You see how many freshman made an impact saturday night?

Totally agree that we are rivals. How can we not be when for the last 2 years, the primary teams in the West are Bama and LSU. One thing that I have noticed is that it is a rivalry of respect, and I really like that. We don't have that with our other 2 rivals.

Yea sorry but we're not rivals.

Now has the Ua- Lsu game been an extremely heated divisional fight that's had national title implications? Absolutely.

If I was Lsu I'd try and create a rivalry with Tamu, or Arky.

You answered your own question....... 2 years doesn't create a rivalry.

I read on here or elsewhere that LSU/Bama is this era's version of 90s UM/FSU.

I can absolutely get behind that. So much on the line, such great teams. Its not a game that LSU or Bama fans will get overly excited for if one or both dips back down at any point.

That's how I see it too. It's the best matchup currently going in college football and, so, you could say it's a rivalry in that sense.

Otherwise, there's always a percentage of any fanbase that talks shite continually and really hates everyone good opponent their team plays regularly. So, of course you have that with Alabama and LSU.

However, the main reason many non-flaming/trolling Alabama fans don't consider LSU a rivalry game like Auburn and Tennessee is simply that there's not that kind of deep rooted, historical hatred.

I guarantee that a much, much larger percentage of Alabama fans would be fine with LSU winning NCs etc if they do beat Alabama in a given year whereas they could hardly stomach the same thing for Auburn or Tennessee.

LSU is the biggest game on the schedule because it's the one that Alabama has the best chance of losing but if that shifts to another team in the future Alabama v LSU won't be a much larger deal than v. Florida.

It is certainly the premiere TD.com rivalry though.

I've read through this thread and some of my Bama brethren seem to think that unmitigated "Hatred" is a key ingredient of a rivalry. I disagree. There are two essential elements to a rivalry. 1. The players on both sides play way above their normal potential. 2. Winning that game can make your season seem a success. I humbly believe both those exist in the Bama-LSU series. We don't have to "hate" each other to be rivals. Our players know it's a rivalry game.

It may not be a Rivalry, but even from a national perspective, it's become the greatest game in college football, and will only get bigger if Miles and Saban stick around for a few more.

It became a rival the day Nick Saban told Miami that he wasn't going to Alabama.

I wish he was crying like that after a loss.

Would be used for years.
