Tom Herman's recruiting advantage at Houston is even better.
The NCAA average for how far away a recruit is from the school they end up going to is close to 400 miles. For Tom Herman at Houston the average is 32 miles. Dude doesn't even have to leave the city or its suburbs to recruit. His entire team is from the Houston area.

Herman has HUGE talent at Houston.

Houston is big. Football in Texas is big. Herman doesn't want to go to LOLolsu.

No doubt.
This is why, IMO, if UH were to get a P5 invite they'd be a monster.

Wow his team must be full of 4 and 5-star recruits then.

Houston area hs football > BR/NOLA hs football

LSU recruits Houston better than Houston does.

Actually Houston only has one 5* on the team. Recruiting stars don't mean shite if they aren't coached properly. Hell, just look at LSU, UGA, and AU.

That just means at LSU he can recruit the entire state of Louisiana and the Houston area.
Sounds like a better gig to me

If Houston gets in the Big 12, I don't think anyone will be pulling too many recruits from Houston but the leftovers. In fact this is the reason why I see them not getting the invite. Houston will take that conference over within 2 years with not even really having to try on the recruiting trail and it scares the shite out of Texas, OU, and the rest of the league.

Soccer is more popular in Houston than college football. Latino population doesn't watch or play college football.

I completely agree with you and hope you are right. If Houston gets invited to the big 12, no way we get Herman. But the rest of the big 12 knows this and will fight tooth and nail to keep Houston from joining

Surely they out recruit Texas and aggy. Because...Houston!

He is building a Miami like program. The U only recruited the state of Miami. The resemble is crazy.

They have 116 players listed on their roster. (I'm guessing that includes walk-ons. And I thought the limit was 115 with walk-ons, but I could have miscounted.)
Louisiana - 8
California - 2
Maryland - 2
Arizona - 1
Australia - 1
Canada - 1
Ohio - 1
Oklahoma - 1
Texas - 99
That's got to be one of the heaviest home state teams in all of college football.

LSU gets more top talent out of houston than UH. if UH gets a b12 invite it probably changes the recruiting landscape there.

Not true at all. Bernie Kosar was from Ohio, Vinny Testaverde was from NY/NJ, and Gino Torretta was from California. Yes, a lot of their talent was from Dade/Broward/Palm Beach counties but their recruiting footprint was much bigger. In state, Jerome Brown and Warren Sapp were from the center of the state. This State of Miami stuff is overblown.

yes but baseball is more popular than both. houston is the #1 metro for baseball talent in the country.

Nah. Houston was in the old SWC with Texas and Texas A&M. Neither of the other schools has ever had any difficulty in pulling players from Houston.
In fact there is an "Aggie Expressway" being built from IAH directly to College Station.
