I'm not sure about other states, but in GA every college has a disability resource center that can refer students to the main disability research center in Athens for testing. The problem is that the testing is really expensive so it's either has to come out of pocket for the student or they have to apply for a limited scholarship to help out. The wait list to get tested is also really long as they test for everything from ADHD to Dyslexia
UA uses multiple testing companies, so there is no wait to get tested. They do pretty extensive testing IMO - they get feed back from parents and roommates/close friends when testing for ADHD.

These kids would never sniff a college classroom if it wasn't for football. It's great that the schools are teaching them to read but they have no business in college. The student - athlete label is such a farce.
I disagree. These are citizens of a given state that have put in the time on the field necessary to better their circumstances and, given the incredible financial benefit they provide the universities, they have every right to attempt to seek and education at such a university. Now that doesn't mean they should be passed through college; they need to be taught and held to the same standards as the students around them. But I think it is inherent in the mission of a state sponsored university to educate the citizens of said state by any means available and necessary.

Usually the research center will refer students on a log wait list to private companies to get tested but it's still pricey. Not sure what causes the discrepancy between Alabama and Georgia in that regard but it'd be wonderful if GA could get that price down somehow
