IMO Yes. It was over before it ever started. Dude is a TE/HBack, and shouldn't be moving around everywhere.

It looks like is bigger then last year. I hope Patchen gaines some more weight and stays healthy. DJ needs to get stronger.

Back at ya South Ga fan. I am sorry but Im not losing sleep about what UF did in 1904..football wasnt an organized sport back when...but since you guys wanna claim it as a W...just go right on ahead. We are catching up fast...every since Dooley retired from coaching and Spurrier was hired.
Eng...Patchan doesnt need to weigh too much as OT, he will be a beast this year with all the snaps under his belt. Remember that OTs need fast footwork to keep pass rusher from going around or inside of blocker.
I think we will surprise folks this year. Our offense only needs to not committ turnovers and we will improve. Our secondary is loaded and # 24 Josh Evans, free sfaety, is bringing the lumber with him and cant wait to see him light up one of those bright orange pants in knoxvegas.

Idk whats even more mind-blowing to me at this point...

Debose is the offense (and special teams) most explosive player and isn't starting?

Or..

Hammond being a starter for the 3rd straight season w/o doing anything worthwhile in the previous 2.

Heck, even the Zook teams, as bad or average as they were, were 10x more explosive offensively than this team

It's not spectacular, sure. Big thing, like reel_gator8 said, is cutting out the TOs and we should be at least somewhat decent.

UF must have the worst 1-2 punch at WR in the entire conference. Maybe Ole Miss is worse? Maybe?

Honestly, nothing on the entire offensive roster is scary. At all. The OL is big but has been soft for a couple years now. They have a bunch of guys returning now though off what was an inexperienced line last year, so if they can toughen up a bit, which is the report out of the spring, then UF does have some size at RB to play some power football. Especially with Joyer at FB.

It will be interesting to see if they can be better than last year.

Their 3rd OC in 3 years. How will this effect the offense?

Can it get any worse?

If so

If Pease is worse than Weis then we are in trouble.

I hope that Pease is Pease from Boise State during the UG game from last year.

Having another new OC hurts. But not as much this year. There hasn't been continuity on offense for years now - so starting from scratch one more time isn't so bad, especially with how bad that offense was last year.

I think the simple fact that John brantley has graduated will make the team better. The guy was just not a winner - he was the opposite - a loser, and IMO it infected the entire team.

I just don't understand why Frankie Hammond plays. He couldn't get open during a pass skeleton drill, let alone against an SEC team. Maybe he's a good edge blocker...

That passing game is going to suck next year. Hopefully UF can run between the tackles with their bigger backs. Because, honestly, besides tossing it deep to Debose, I don't see who UF will throw the ball to. Reed is going to get a lot of attention from defenses, and unless a freshmen steps up, there really isn't anyone else scary at TE. Hines and Burton might get catches from the HB position, but again, not dangerous vertical threats.

Going to be a long year on offense if UF can't pound out 180+ yards/game on the ground.

Saban was trying hard to hire Pease and we got him. He doesnt have to be a guru or flash super bowl rings...as long as he doesnt require sitting on a cooler during the game Im ok

We just need to control the tempo on offense and win field position battle...let our defense force the other team into mistakes...thats the sign of a rock solid team. Our OL is going to much much better this year...tighten the chin straps.

We'll see. UF controls the turnovers and they probably win 2 more games LAST year, so if they can turn that around they'll be better than most people give them credit for.

Well, one thing I feel good about is that we still have Brian White who was a candidate for the OC. Hopefully with him staying on board it will help us some from a continuity standpoint.

Harsh but true, but don't say that on Gator Country. It was always someone else's fault not Johns according to the homers. Losing just didn't seem to bother JB. It was always the same old "awe shucks I'm just lil ole Johhny B from lil ole Ocala. We lost but, you can't think about it. Gotta move on. No big deal."

Zero chance production goes down with Pease/Driskell/Brissett rather than Brantley/Weis...

Hell...the FSU game would have come down to the last play had we taken a knee on every snap...rather than actually try...

Seriously, if UF had just run it three times every time out and punted, the game would have been 0-0 in the 4th quarter.

John Brantley was just terrible that day.

Slayer, I usually don't expect too much from Freshmen, but I just have a feeling Kent Taylor may be able make a big impact this year. Probably not as a true TE, but just mainly as a big possesion receiver for us coming across the middle.

Like a Carl Moore type. What do you think?

I always temper my expectations for freshmen, but honestly, Taylor is big and athletic and could make an impact immediately on a team that has very little experience at TE and almost no playmakers.

Honestly though, UF doesn't need another possession guy, they need a consistent option at WR that can stretch the field vertically.

Taylor will have trouble getting open when the whole opposing defense is within 10 yards of the LOS because opposing safeties creep up.

One of the most important freshmen on the team this year may be Latroy Pittman.

You mean rolling right, throwing 30 yds across your body to the left, into quadruple coverage is unacceptable?
