Yeah, but having a terrible coach is not too bad. If he is average, you get stuck with him for years. At least UF will be able to move on quickly.

With who? Terrible timing for an elite program to need a new coach. Pipeline is cleaned out.

It all depends on who they get. Choose wisely and things will immediately get better. Choose poorly, or, as I like to say, choose "Dooley," and things get worse than you can imagine.

UF still has a very good chance of beating us though. Then they'll be all excited but wind up losing to Vanderbilt or something stupid.

I dont think we'll lose to Vanderbilt, and judging by the rest of the East, we still have a fair shot of getting to Atlanta, based on the fact that Mizzou, South Carolina, and LSU all have to come to Gainesville.

But thats not the point I'm getting at.

If we somehow get to Atlanta, and still look like a incompetent team, Muschamp has to go. Winning the East this year wouldn't be a big accomplishment at all.

Yes, but could you REALLY justify firing a coach who won the division? It might be the right call ultimately, but that's a deeply difficult position for an AD.

This game was a predicted loss for UF. It's the way we lost that sucks balls. I put it solidly on coaching. There is no excuse for the secondary confusion that went on and on yesterday, they looked like they were in the O&B spring game and no one knew who to cover. That's a coaching issue. Driskel is a knuckle head and hasn't mentally matured to get the offense where it needs to be. If Roper and Boom can't recognize this and bench him then we will drop more games.

UF has recruited well the last several years. The turnaround will be quick with the right coach.
I'm not sure I believe that. The turnover they have had at OC means they were recruiting players for totally different systems. Players recruited for Charlie Weis's system will have trouble playing to the best of their abilities in Roper's system.

If UF were to somehow win the East, lose the SECCG, and then fire Muschamp, they 're gonna have an awfully hard time hiring an 'elite' HC. And if they do, UF will have to offer much more $$$ than they'd like to offer simply because they'd have to convince the next HC that they are committed to him.

A division title for UF this year could be a bad thing.

The coach is the problem, not the program.

First mistake was hiring a defensive coach as HC. You're UF, spread offense is your calling card.

This, plus the fact that y'all hired an assistant instead of a proven HC. Florida is an elite program that should never be rolling the dice on assistants with no head coaching experience.

Florida is just in another Zook era right now. They've still recruited well, and a good, offensive-minded hire can turn the ship around quickly. If they can lure someone like Briles, they'd be competing for a title inside of 5 years. I still think Florida needs throw the bank at Harbaugh.

Ridiculous argument. They're out there you just gotta find em. Or steal one from another program.

Yes, yesterday was the game that proved Florida is no longer elite. Not the years preceding it. Not the loss to Georgia Southern...or the beatdown by Vanderbilt, or the loss to Louisville.

Tennessee is closer to being "elite" right now than UF is.

Not so. How many years did Alabama go looking for the right head coach?? Florida is just going through the same thing. The right staff in place and Florida is right back. Hell there's so much talent in the area you can recruit to Florida in golf cart.

Funny thing about Michigan is that I'm becoming more and more sure they fired Rich Rod way, way too early-- look at what he did before and after Ann Arbor, guy's a winner Michigan is just stuck on being a Pro style team and can't adapt anymore than Florida's fans can take a 3 yards and a cloud of dust team.

Actually, Rich Rod might be a bad arse at Florida.

If anyone is an expert on not being elite, it would have to be the 1969 ACC Champion, never been to a BCS bowl game, South Carolina GameChickens.

Ruffin McNeill at ECU is a very, very good football coach. If he stays at ECU, they can consistently play on NYD.

If Florida really does decide to move on, Foley should throw the bank at him. They destroyed UNC yesterday, and that game was never close.
