Florida was the class of the SEC for a while there

I think they will be pretty damned good this year

I would not surprise me if they beat Bama in 2 weeks

I have been saying all offseason that UF would see an AU in '13 type turnaround.

Right now, I believe that the WLOCP will be for the SEC East.

I will be pulling for the Gators against Bama, LSU and, of course, Free Shoes...

Here was my prediction on UF from another SEC forum made on June 22:

2014 Florida Gators:

8/30: Idaho - W
9/6: Eastern Michigan - W
9/13: Kentucky - W
9/20: at Alabama - L (toss up)
9/27: OPEN
10/4: at Tennessee - W
10/11: LSU - W
10/18: Missouri - W (toss up)
10/25: OPEN
11/1: Georgia (at Jacksonville, FL) - L (toss up)
11/8: at Vanderbilt - W
11/15: South Carolina - L (toss up)
11/22: Eastern Kentucky - W
11/29: at Florida State - W (toss up)

9 - 3.

Muschump saves his job by showing dramatic improvement and beating last year's National Champion.

I would amend this to 9 - 2 and call the SC game a win without being a toss up plus toss out the canceled game

I agree with your assessment

and Ive felt all along that UF would surprise folks this year. If we contain Gurley (my vote for Heisman btw) and I think we can by stacking the box...UGAs passing game isn't strong enough to withstand 3rd and longs. UGA has lost wr talent and if Malcolm Mitchell doesn't return, its an uphill climb. Conley I guess is there as a senior and decent possession wr.

The game between USC and UGA will be fun to watch and I think dawgs are catching the cocks at a bad time since they are still smarting from the opener. Would have been easier to play a few games down the road...cause now they have backs to the wall.
Fortunately we face UT next year in the Swamp cause they are going to be a much tougher team in '15.

No. The team was 0-4 during his tenure there. He, as a starting QB, was 0-3.

But that was a nice try. Keep at it. One of these days you'll eventually make an intelligent post. I have faith in you.

It's a fact that Peyton went 0-4 against Florida in college. Sorry that upsets you.

Found this on gatorsports.com:

1994: Gators can sing ‘Rocky Top,’ too, 31-0

If you ask any real Gators fan what Manning’s record against Florida was, they would probably look at you like you were crazy, but then as politely as possible answer, “0-4, stupid.”

However, like Amelia Earhart or the Easter Bunny, the truth of this game, and Manning’s involvement in Tennessee’s blowout loss, seems to be one of those facts that are lost to history.

Actually, thanks to some sort of new-fangled invention, some people have started calling it the ‘Internet’, we quickly learn that the facts are very much on record: Manning was third on the team’s depth chart as a freshman, and only played sparingly, mopping up at the end of the game following an injury to the team’s starter, Todd Helton.

Okay.
That still doesn't change the fact that he went 0-4 against Florida.

How about this Vol? Maybe we call all agree on...

For the time period that Peyton Manning attended the University of Tenn and participated on the football team for said University, he never experienced a victory against The University of Florida. Therefore, Peyton's record as a Vol is 0-4 versus UF.

Good?

The team's record while Peyton was on the roster was 0-4. Peyton's record was 0-3. Can't say I've ever seen a 3rd string QB ever get attributed with either a win or a loss.

Peyton sec championships 1 > Eli sec championship 0

Peyton was better in college.

Peyton NFL record 167-73 > Eli NFL record 85-66

Peyton's better in the pros

I don't think he was third string during that game. Jerry Colquitt, the veteran senior, blew his knee out week 1 against UCLA. Peyton played in that game I believe.

I seem to remember the QB battle was between Peyton and Brandon Stewart, another freshman from Texas who was actually rated higher than Peyton coming out of HS. Fulmer decided to start Helton, a few years older, based on experience, but he was #2 (behind 1a Peyton and 1b Stewart) and was already leaning baseball.

They rotated QBs for a while until Peyton won the job.
