There are more than a few bars in Jax, Jax Beach and Amelia. Mr. Middleburg doesn't get out much apparently.
Let me know part of town you are staying in at Jax and what type of bar you are looking for.

I'll have to ask her aunt. She's done all the planning and booking. But I guess a spot where the younger crowd hangs out. Preferably not a bunch of frat boys and sorority girls though.

I have better things to do Mr jackass...just telling him a few of the good places I know
And if you ask anyone they would recommend the places I did. Don't what your issue is

You can pretty much go anywhere and have a good time. People are all over the place. At some point you'll probably have to stop by The Landing as well.

When you find out I'll give you some spots.

Appreciate both of y'all's recommendations.

It's all good. Just different tastes. I don't know anyone that would recommend Mavericks, Hooters, Freebirds or the Ritz.
There are much better places near all those. It's like you haven't left the Burg in a long, long time.
I'd be happy to recommend some new places for you to try out during your next long run North to the big city.

Yea I don't go to JAX much anymore unless I'm going to work but that's base so not too far. I'm good with the small town area.

The Ritz is for cheese dicks. However, becasue it's FL/GA week there will be a good bit of fans.
If you are going to the beach, to to Atlantic Beach and hit the Triangle. Must stoop at Pete's Bar too just to say you did.
At the triangle there are plenty of bars to bar hop around.
Really though, need to know where you are going. I'd consider Riverside if you can cab it as there will be fewer "barkers" over there and it sounds like more of your crowd.

Its a large area so your base will dictate where you will want to go. If your going with veterans and Ga fans then you're probably staying more north.
Regardless you will have a great time. Win or lose. More if you win tho. I've been to a few. If you lose just drink more. Enjoy.

Riverside is great (I live there) but if you're trying to stay to downtown, you don't have to leave it.
Burro Bar is downtown and in walking distance of 2-3 other really decent bars. Burro is a dive-bar with a decent select of beers (no liquor) and an underground/indie-type feel, but a very diverse crowd. Next door is local eatery Chomp-Chomp which has absolutely phenomenal "bar food" (but really not your typical bar food).
It's a one-block walk to Burrito Gallery (Food, beers) as well as Dos Gatos, which will probably be NUTS that weekend. Liquor, beer, right across from the Florida Theater. Under 35 crowd and a great bar when it's busy.
Two blocks further towards the river there is Underbelly, which is like Burro but more upscale and with liquor. Will probably have some relatively underground band/music playing.
A few blocks West of all of that is The Volstead. A throw-back '40's speakeasy-style bar with an absolutely great selection of whiskeys and a bit of a nicer atmosphere.
The Beaches? Check the Lemon Bar.
Riverside? The Garage, Black Sheep's Rooftop bar, Orsay for dinner, and the Loft or Rogue for drinks.
