I'm staying on Amelia Friday and Jacksonville Saturday. What is can't miss? How does the tailgating go? Just anywhere? What about open container laws. Thanks

Can't miss is St Augustine 30 minutes south. The tailgating will be in the parking lot areas around the stadium. You can't miss it. No one cares about open container, just be discrete about it

Thanks. Anything else? Local bars? You can gamble down there right? Casino is somewhere right?

The only casino per say is on the cruise ship. There is a dog track with poker room in Orange park and st Augustine though. RV city is where it's at as far as tailgaiting.

I would love to do this game one year. Love the 50/50 ticket split and atmosphere the game brings

Hey, you can only talk Alabama/LSu here.

Yeah I'm pumped. Got 2 free tickets from my gfs aunts friend. She said they have a parking pass in the lot right across from the stadium so I'm guessing we're really close. Has been on my bucket list. Finally get to cross it off.

No casinos.
Bars depend on where you are staying in Jax and how far you want to stumble.
Open container laws are suspended for games. Just don't pass out in the street or fight someone and you'll be fine.
Let us know what kind of bar, roughly where you are staying and how far you want to stumble. There are several of us here but be weary of anyone giving you advice if they live in Middleburg. Cow tipping is all they have there.

You pulling for a particular team, or just going for the entertainment?

any restaurants you recommend? Good bars? I'm sure they'll know as they go down every year but they're 55-65 year olds. Looking for a bar me and the gf can go to that's a little younger.

Well my gfs aunt is a uga grad and everyone they tailgate with as well. I won't be cheering for either but deep down I'd much rather Florida win. Growing up in Georgia as an auburn fan I hate uga fans

We hate you more.
It's a great game to see. Congrats for knocking it off your list.

Poker room in St Johns closed. Big poker room (biggest in Florida) now in the Regency area which is closer to downtown than Orange Park Best Bet Jax

Friday night pick a dinner spot downtown Fernandina then go to Green Turtle, Dog Star, and the Palace Saloon for some Pirates Punch.

How'd ya come up with that one? I dunno if I've ever heard that one before.

Idk about casinos, I haven't seen any. There is a few dog tracks where they have poker and other games upstairs. Downtown has a few bars (Mavericks, hooters); JAX beach has a few (freebird, the ritz). You might be good sticking around Amelia. Both of those are a little bit of a drive. But I'm pretty sure Amelia has a few small bars.
ETA: now that I think of it, avoid hooters at all cost

I claim Middleburg but live closer to the Penney Farms/Lake Asbury area. Clay county is where it's at

Tailgating happens all around the stadium. There aren't many bars around the stadium, but the tailgating is awesome. They aren't bad on open containers... Just keep it in a cup if you walk around.
As far as places to go. St. Augustine would be my #1 suggestion. It's the oldest town in America, Ridleys believe it or not museum, a huge fort from Spanish founders like Ponce De Leon, and a lot of pirates of the Caribbean names/themes came from here. Also some really cool bars and Taverns.
Jax Beach, and Riverside are the best bar areas. Jax Beach is my spot. About 15 different bars all within about 4 blocks.
St. John's Towncenter is an enormous outdoor mall. It's nice as well.
