Well Spurrier has proven you can win here so I don't think we would have trouble attracting a high quality coach to fill the position. Randy Shannon and Mike Stoops both tried to fill the DC vacancy after Ellis Johnson left.

Texas A&M in the SEC with Texas High School Football is in a much better short and long-term situation than the Gamecocks.

Don't disagree with this but just because the talent is there doesn't mean they'll get it

I would rather be Texas with Mack Brown, or Georgia with Mark Richt.

Disagree with this. Fan expectations are too high at those schools. If Richt doesn't close out the 2011 season with 10 straight wins he probably gets fired after his only losing season

Georgia and Texas seem to be stuck with coaches that will continue to under achieve.

You don't need a top 5 recruiting class to win a championship. You need depth a each position and a competent coaching staff and a qb. A&M may well have a recruiting advantage but I don't see it. They have too many schools in there state to recruit against. A&M wasn't even relevant last season now your telling me they can win the sec and they are going to be better than us. No offense but the same way people keep saying they need to see more consistency out of our program I would say the same for A&M. Hell we've at least won 30+ games the last three yrs and played for an sec title give me a break.

You could have made an All-Star team of Carolina players over the last 3 years and they wouldn't have beat the 2012 Texas A&M squad...

Either team can win it this year, but I think the Cocks will get an SEC title before TAMU does.

I would love for that to be the matchup this year, especially after the cross-divisional game was shelved.

if you're referring to USC

if you're referring to players from the state of South Carolina then I don't feel like going through to see who could fill out the team

You're trying WAY too hard with this one. We add even Alshon back to the roster and we hang 50 @ A&M.

Lemme think about SC not having any instate talent for a moment ...

Vonnie Holliday
Marcus Lattimore
De'Quan Bowers
Stephon Gilmore
Albert Haynesworth
Carlos Dunlap
The Geathers Family
Jadeveon Clowney
Alshon Jeffery
Gaines Adams
John Abraham
Alex Barron
The Boulware Brothers
Courtney Brown
Corey Chavious
Ben Coates
Chuck Darby
Andre Goodman
Sheldon Brown
Tye Hill
Jonathan Joseph
Tony McDaniel
Cleveland Pinkney
Sidney Rice
Richard Seymore
Ko Simpson
Quniton Teal
Rod Wilson

... and I know I'm forgetting quite a few but those are all SC born and bred HS boys right there.

The difference these days is we are keeping the majority of them in state, at home, at the flagship.

Additionally, we're doing quite well within our accepted recruiting radius ... over in Georgia and up in NC and even down in Florida. So we're doing okay, and this ranking crap - it's just that past the first couple of classes. Georgia has, for almost 15 years now, averaged the highest ranked classes overall during that time period ... and during that same time period we are what, 6-9 vs Georgia? Something like that including winning four outta the last six - so meh, the recruiting rankings really don't mean jack shite if you are signing solid players, a good mix of blue collar and white collar guys, blue chippers and hard workers, develop the chemistry, coach'em-up, get'em on the same page.

How many times did Nebraska sign the #1 class when they were winning all those championships?

Answer: Not once. Not even Top Ten.

Does recruiting matter, hell yes. But is A&m the shazzizz of the fricking SEC because they have the state of Texas to recruit in? frick no. And anyone who tries to make Georgia and A&M have an advantage because of their recruiting base is an idiot. It used to be about that before some here were born when kids wanted to stay close to home and kids wanted to go somewhere where they could be seen on the occasional TV game ... but it's not that way anymore. Kids wanna play for legends, kids wanna play where they can get playing time, kids wanna play in the fricking S.E.C. and kids wanna play where they feel comfortable and fit the system. They want two things, security and stability and their Mommas and Daddys want to know they are going to get a good education and have a shot at the NFL.

That's all that matters and honestly, what I am about to type may make sense to some, to others it really doesn't matter .... but after those first few classes, the ones Bama puts together and then whomever falls in behind Bama ... after those first few classes the next 15 or 20 really aren't that much different between themselves. It's all about filling needs. It's all about finding good fits for your system. So all this "Texas is recruiting heaven bullshite," I'll put the top five players in SC against the top five players in Texas ever fricking year and chances are the Top Five players in SC will be as good or better. Same goes for Georgia, NC, etc. We all produce good talent in this part of the country ... Texas may have numbers, but so fricking what when you can drive an hour north and be in NC and an hour west and be in Georgia. It's about radius, about traveling distance, it's not about borders.

Oh, and it is about respect and if you're lucky having a kid grow-up as a fan ... but even that is not such a big deal anymore because Florida can only sign 25 a year, UGA can only sign 25 a year, Texas can only sign 25 a year and so-on and so-forth.

You sign kids who want to play for you, who fit the system, who come from good homes when possible, who have solid work ethics and clean slates ... and you'll do just fine if you coach'em up and get a few bounces of the ball and lucky breaks along the way.

You gotta frickin' believe ... that's the big thing.

And oh, with regards to Spurrier ... he's gonna be here for awhile longer so let's just put that one to rest and cross that bridge when we come to it, shall we? Otherwise, answer me this. What happens when Urbie dipshit Meyer has another nervous breakdown? OSU gonna cry and fold up their tent? Or when Kevin Sumlin gets run over by a bus? A&M gonna be done? So quit with the fricking hypothetical "whatcha gonna do when Spurrier leaves" bullshite. We've been hearing that for eight years now and all the while he is planting trees and buying new beach houses around here.

We would have beaten the 2012 faggie squad when our 2012 Gamecock squad. Matter of fact chances are JFF would be recovering from his surgery right now if y'all had played us last year. We had the one defense in the league that would have absolutely owned JFF and that system.

Meh, whatever. It's clear to me now ... some of y'all A&M fans are just too dumb to get it. I have never seen a group of such shite talkers - I thought Ohio State fans were bad, but Texas fans were right about A&M fans. Y'all take the cake when it comes to ignorance about your surroundings. Plus, you evidently have reading comprehension issues as well.

I've always cheered for every SEC team when they play out of conference ... but I may have to change that where A&M is concerned. Y'all will end-up being the exception to the rule for most everyone in the conference before all is said and done I suspect. And please on please Bama, smack these punks down early this coming season.
