Their HC Larry Fedora is legit IMO.
I think USCe is going to have a dogfight on their hands.

All I know is in all sports I root for them once a year. When they play the Chokies in football.

The last time we played a Larry Fedora coached team was in the season opener in 2010. We beat Southern Miss 41-13.

Even Mizzou the tarheels...should be an easy game for cocks

They went 8-4 last season, but didn't play in a bowl game for being on probation for all the Black Santa shite that went on there under Butch Davis...
They beat two FCS teams Elon and Idaho 128-0.....one of them 66-0 and the other 62-0. Well, Idaho is supposed to be a FBS team I think, but last year went 1-11 and Elon (a true FCS) would've beat them easily IMO. Other than that they went 6-4 in the other 10 games scoring 36 ppg and allowing 31 ppg.
They have a decent offense - Fedora teams will always have decent to prolific offenses if he can man it with talent that fits his system - but a pretty porous defense. They return a good passing QB in Brenner and their leading WR (SC product Quinshad Davis that missed out on going to USC), but lost explosive RB Bernard to the draft. They are also replacing at least 3 OL from last yr's unit.
Good thing I feel about our defense is our secondary will mostly be an experienced group and will be prepared for UNC's pass game. Our LBs will be green to start the season and that might be an issue against the run game, but IMO UNC's run offense may also have questions to start out. Our offense should be able to do good things against UNC's own pass D....

They really loaded up on D this past recruiting class, coming in at #28 on 247.
Landed the #1 Dual Threat QB and of their 6 four stars, 4 were on defense.
They got 2 four star DE's and a four DT as well as a four star CB.
They will be pretty solid in another year or two if he keeps recruiting well.

South Carolina always looks terrible in season openers (but wins anyway). I like UNC at 14.5.

Larger number than I expected, still wouldn't bet against the Gamecocks there. UNC looked pretty terrible on D at times last year.

Normally I would shy away from that kind of spread in the opener - wouldn't care if we were playing the Sisters at St Mary Catherine's Church for the Blind.
But we're loaded this year, especially on offense, and this is a little bit more than just a game, this is a rivalry of sorts even though they have been ducking-us for awhile since we played them up there in '06 or '07 or whenever it was.
We also have Deke Adams, whom we hired to replace Brad Lawing - and Adams will help us a little with some of Fedora's nuances I think.
Thirdly, and most importantly, the UNC fans I know believe this is going to be a slow-starting year for them at best. They seem to have no confidence in them getting-out of the gate very fast, although they believe they might improve quite a bit as the season goes on. Their common worry from my observation, is that they are so young and inexperienced that they get demolished in Columbia and it destroys their confidence for the remainder of the season.
I doubt that's gonna happen, but I do believe we're going to pound it down their throats against that young defense of theirs and that our D is going to prove to be too much for them, especially in our house with our rabid crazy loud fans who are, predominantly, tarholio haters. We pretty-much despise them for the tarbelly pukes they are.

UNCs defense is terrible. They outscored teams last year. Cocks win 35-17

Great points, the things that jump out to me about this game are:
1. We took their DL coach, Adams, so he can give us some insight on what they like to do, even more than just watching film on them.
2. They lost 4 starting OL, (but have 2 returning who started at least 1+ games.)
3. The game is in Columbia, our home winning % is really good over the past 3 years.
4. They are going to be a good passing team coming into this game, but not great at the run. I would expect them to get at least 2 passing TD's of 20+ yards.
5. I don't know about the 14.5 spread, that's a lot for an opener and to say that this far out. Obviously players on both sides can get in trouble or get injured, and that could swing the whole game.
I still think we win this game, but I'm tempted to bet against the spread. I think a 10 point victory is much more likely. Curious how they said 14.5 points, that's essentially 3 scores and they might as well have said 15.5 or 16.5.
