I thought I read that y'all met with him the day after the bowl game. Was that not so that Miles could give him a counter offer?

Yeah Miles met with him, but I haven't seen a reputable source say that he was given another offer. Granted, it was pretty obvious he was gone after his postgame interview so I wasn't really hanging on bits of news either

Not melting but I will start a thread about Aggies and things they took from our team.

Of course you're not melting...

I guess LSU fans can't post and do some trolling of their own about the Chavis hire and without melting then? Makes sense I guess

you "money whipped" us? lol. you had to pay 5 million per year to keep a mediocre coach and had to pay an extra million to obtain a decent DC. you should actually be humbled at this behavior by your adm.

as far as chavis being the only good coach we've had in the last 5 years, I guess if you compared LSU's record with AGGIES over that time frame you might reconsider. it made you feel better tho. never saw fans that shoot off their mouth more than aggy. brag about shite that never happened and isn't likely too. I guess y'all just don't have anything to really brag about so you make shite up. tejas defense mechanism.

Interesting. I know (per this board) that Alleva is under quite a bit of fire... before Chavis and since.

Is it possible that Alleva wanted Chavis gone and Les wanted him to stay? As the AD, Alleva would have control of the $$. Obviously LSU could have matched had they wanted.

From an outsiders perspective it looks like there is some friction between Alleva and Miles. Let said he was going to "pitch" Chavis one more time the night after the ND game. Can't believe Les would just pitch him without the financial package to back him up. Doesn't really make sense.

I remember during our bowl game that some radio station here (I forget which) reported that Alleva was not going to adjust his bid after the reports leaked of Chavis' offer from A&M. Caused quite a stir with our fans, and I at least expect you're right. Feel Alleva did not want to keep Chavis and had a set price he was willing to pay and would not budge.

Was not a popular move by our AD at all.

I have no sources or other BS to back this up, but I wouldn't be surprised if Alleva saw the crop of DCs available and said "If he wont take this offer, frick it we will get someone else". Defense isn't the problem, but the product is getting stale. Any excitement could make a difference, and it isn't like we can get rid of Miles or Cameron yet.

Okay. Heard this or read it somewhere. Les has a buyout clause in his contract.. said to be in the range of $13M this year. Not sure if true.

If this is true it sounds like LSU is stuck with him for another year or two. $13M is a hell of a buyout if true.

Is Alleva trying to piss Les off so he takes a job somewhere else. Losing a DC over $400K to another team in the same conference is just weird. Even Alleva will understand with the Muschamp contract and the Chavis deal, the price of DCs in the conference are going up. Doubt that LSU will find a "proven" high profile DC for anything close to what you guys were paying Chavis. Definitely going to be in the $1.5M min range. So much of this does not make any sense at all.

Trolling BS aside, I am glad to have Chavis. I think we get to find out if shitty defenses and the HUNH definitely go together. If Chavis can't get our D into the upper half of the SEC W then we got a problem.

How is that melting?

Miles wanted to keep Chief. All reports and indications are that Chief and Alleva didn't care for each other.

It isn't melting, he's just 12 and doesn't know what that word means even though he's been spamming it.

Because it gives credence to the idea that he could actually get someone comparable. Poaching someone costs more money, and Chavis had proven himself. How many top ten defenses have y'all had the last 5 years? Any DCs on the market with that kind of pedigree? I hear Mike Stoops is. The guy that gave up the most yards in the history of the Cotton Bowl to Manziel? Would have loved if y'all had Stoops the last three years we would have spanked you every time.

Y'all are doing anything and everything you can to try and convince yourselves that you didn't want Chavis and it's not a huge loss for your team. That my friend is a classic sign of melt.

Fredo Stoops is a real example of a team just letting a coordinator leave. Most OU fans do not want him

There's a couple that could possibly have, on some level, the success Chavis has had in his tenure here. Only a couple, and Stoops would make our board have a true melt, not the kind everyone throws out as a retort when they have no response.

Personally, I like Shoops (NOT STOOPS). He's had success at Vanderbilt which is honestly impressive given their talent. Also had a good season at Penn State as well.
