The whole idea of the "big 6" is archaic and isn't an accurate term. It hasn't been that way since the 1st expansion. Clinging to the past isn't what has made the sec the best conference in America. Its being a leader that has made the change

The easiest way to fix all this is to move to 9 games. Then you can move Auburn to the east, Alabama can have 2 permanent cross division rivals and the rest of us can have 0 cross division rivals.

Nine games is the fix!

Why won't people stop with this 9 game bullshite? You guys fail to consider that 9 games is unfair because some teams will have 5 home games and others will have 4. Logistically speaking, it's a nightmare and it's unfair. Alabama will always have 5 home games.

Wah wah wah. Cry like a baby. Schedule FSU at home on the years you only have four home SEC games and FSU away on the years you have five. It works in the ACC, PAC, XII, and B1G.

And it isn't our fault that you play UGA in Jacksonville. We play Arkansas in JW. But at least we have a sunset date for that bullshite.

Just get rid of the East and West connotations. Problem solved.

It is funny to hear a bammer say the Iron Bowl should be done away with because of the hatred when it is almost totally your backwoods, hick fan base that brings national embarrassment to the rivalry by killing people and poisoning trees after you lose to Auburn

It will not happen, but it should.

First expansion we kept Florida and Georgia. (2 permanents) Swapped UT for LSU.
Then it went to one permanent

I would rather move to the East and play our old Rivals again. However getting rid of divisions is the only long term answer. Will happen eventually.

and your fan desecrated Coach Bryant's grave. I think the hatred angle is WAY over played and stories like the are just anecdotal.

Or we could just move to a nine-game schedule and . . .voila . . . problem solved.

Auburn SEC schedule example:
Year 1: six division opponents, Georgia, Florida, Kentucky
Year 2: six division opponents, Georgia, Missouri, South Carolina
Year 3: six division opponents, Georgia, Tennessee, Vanderbilt

Each player is ensured of playing every team in the conference at least once, the old rivalries are kept, and so on and so forth.

Georgia and South Carolina didn't b!tch and moan and propose new divisions. They just got better and started winning their share of divisions.

There is really no reason to have Missouri in the conference. Kick them out and replace them with Clemson, Florida State, or Georgia Tech (again) and move Vanderbilt to the West.

All time SEC titles:

bama- 24
ut- 13
uga- 12
lsu-11
uf- 8
au- 8

the 7th on the list last won a title over FIFTY years ago.

quote:

It hasn't been that way since the 1st expansion

Since 1992:

Division Titles-
uf- 10
bama- 9
auburn- 5
lsu- 5
ut- 5
uga- 5

The big 6 has won the division a total of 39 times. The "little 6" has been a combined 5 times, going 0-5 in the title game by a combined score of 65-182. In only 1 of those 5 games did the little 6 team score more than 2 touchdowns.

Overall SEC titles since 1992:

The big 6 has won all 23 SEC titles since 1st expansion.

All time Win percentage (national rank):

Alabama (7)-72%
UT (12)-68%
LSU (14)-65%
UGA (16)-65%
AU (19)-63%
UF (20)-63%

All of the big 6 is in the top 20 all time in win percentage. The closest little 6 team (talking prior to '14 expansion) is arkansas at 33rd. 2nd place in the little six is ole miss at 54th.

You can pretend it's archaic, but it's rooted in black and white, cold hard facts. The big 6 has won far, FAR more at a divisional, league, and national level than the little 6 has and it isn't even remotely close.

Just go back to a 10 or 11 team conference. Play everyone and eliminate the dumb arse conference championship game.

It just makes too much sense to swap Auburn and Missouri, not only geographically but from the standpoint of competitive balance.

It's all about the Alabama-Tennessee game. Nothing else. Nothing. The old timers don't want that game to go away. So because of this, Missouri finds itself in the same division with Florida. It's just stupid, stupid, stupid.

It's time.

You'd have to switch Alabama too...
