USC is a top 3 job in CFB. aTm isn't top 10. Like it or not texas will be back and things will get harder for the aggies at that point.

There was a time that OU was a top job, but then there's today when it's essentially Nebraska where you can't recruit and lose to a 1-4 UTx team that is coached by Charlie Strong. Times change.

No reason not to like it.
Unlike the teams in the Big XII, Texas A&M enjoys a challenge.

OU would be a top 5 job if it wasn't for the whole poor thing

lol, guys. Pat Haden didn't publicly announce that someone else turned them down, and said the guy they ended up was their first choice the whole time. He wouldn't lie now would he?

OU pays 6 mil for a coach that just shows up to cash paychecks and play golf. They also have some of the highest paid coordinators in CFB, That alone makes it a top job. But yes ill laugh with yall, Bob is done.

Had this discussion at the SC/Washington game the other night with my UW friend watching 7 Win Sark's final stand.

SC has pick of the litter on all West Coast 5 Stars. Oregon doesn't recruit 5 Stars...they recruit speed....everyone else is 2nd tier IMHO and might get a 5 Star once every 3 years.

I was trying to explain why SC is such a favorable job when it comes to recruiting...Let's say there are 10 5 Stars on the West Coast and 25 in SEC Country. SC has free reign on the 10 based on several factors - mainly tradition and the fact that they are the only school in the Pac 12 that consistently has a game day atmosphere comparable the rest of the country. I hear Eugene is close but I haven't been there yet and they play cute football.

The "Southern 25" 5 stars are split up between the relevant SEC Schools and really 2 ACC Schools (FSU, Clem) so the talent is spread really thin.

If I am an "in my prime" coach at any SEC School other than Bama I would at least hear what SC has to say. I despise the Trojans but can see why someone like Sumlin would rather have more money, less swamp arse, a house in Pacific Palisades and his choice of recruits on the West Coast...I've lived in both Texas and California and it doesn't suck here....It's 80 today...October 13th...

He has a good contract with A&M and they are doing everything they can to step their game up. USC might be the best job in the country though. It would just depend really on what Kevin Sumlin values out of his job and what he views his ceiling is at A&M vs what it would be at USC.

Bob will stay there as long as he pleases and there's not a damn thing your pathetic fan base will do about it.

You obviously get it. A big coastal job like USC with all those recruits beats out Bama, tOSU, texas, OU, Mich, etc.. I think. Sumlin would be crazy not to take that.

This is what OU pays total to a staff (HC and assistants) headlined by a guy with 8 conference championships and one national championship:

$9.6M

This is what A&M pays to a staff headed by a guy who they THINK is really good, but still hasn't won a single conference championship:

$9.3M

If Sumlin does win an SEC title or a national title, that figure for A&M is going to blow past OU.

Again, Sumlin already had a chance to go to "top 3 job USC". He turned them down for "not a top 10 job" A&M.

The proof is in the pudding, friend.

So, to be clear, you are convinced that Sumlin couldn't have jumped to USC back in 2013, the first time they pursued him?

Agree 100%. A&M is not a top program and will never be, but it is a good job because it pays above its level of achievement and relevance.
