This guy says Tenn fans will not let another year go by like last year without change. Okay, guy is George Schroder(sp?) of USA Today...he is very astute and knowledgeable about situation at UT

Fans have no control over the football program. Haslam and the big donors do. Same as every other school.

That means Butch will sign an extension later this week.

As disappointing as this past season was losing to Vandy and USCe, Butch jones was never getting fired. We didn't have an AD or university president at the time, there were too many high profile job openings, and we needed to hold onto our incoming recruiting class which is looking solid. We would've ended up with a crap mid-major hire and another few years of futility.
But here comes everyone telling us that we were happy with last seasons performance

The hell they don't. What pool of people do you think most big donors belong to? They are the biggest of the fans. And the collective clout made by the average fans carry their own significant say on a program

bullshite. the Haslams own the state of Tennessee and every decision made by the AD. They pick who they want. The Haslams blocked Blackburn (overwhelming popular favorite) from being hired as AD because he wasn't a yes-man that would do what they say. They like Butch jones for the same reasons. They have unlimited power at UT. And as you can see from the browns, they don't exactly know how to run a football franchise/program.

Bob Stoops to Tennessee would be absolutely brilliant. However, I look forward to them deciding to keep Butch for another year after 9 more wins.

I like how you feel the need to share what's happening on Finebaum everyday

I wouldn't mind hammering Laura Rutledge.

To be fair, the reasons the Haslams/administration can get away with it is because they know the fan base is averse to change and extremely hopeful when it comes to the team. They also know they'll be able to sell which ever shite coach they find on the streets next because the fan base will convince themselves it will (or at least, could) work out.

So UT is Texas east?

World would be a better place without that jacksss

Butch is the victim of his own hype. He's kind of like Lane Kiffin was at UT, trying to build program recognition through news and social media. Every offseason he talks up his talent and coaches. Everybody's a star in spring ball. Starving Vol fans lap it up and when the team doesn't meet expectations, Jones looks bad.
