Yankee Stadium and Dodger Stadium say hello.

Also, your own baseball stadium...

Sorry if this has already been disscussed, I searched and didn't find anything. Looks as if Sewell Thomas Stadium (Bama's baseball facility) will finally be getting a major upgrade with a 30 million dollar price tag. This is long overdue considering all the improvements to other facilities in the recent years. Just glad to see it is finally coming. LINK

Why? According to Bama fans y'all only care about football, softball and gymnastics. For some reason, you guys have neglected to update us on Bama softball this year.

Ummmm...What about Alex Box Stadium?

And to the OP, it doesn't say that this is definitely going to happen as they have not even presented plans to the Board of Trustees. This proposal won't take place until next month at the earliest or maybe over into the fall. Even then it's not guaranteed that they'll accept and move forward. So at this point the thread title should be changed.

One of the assistant AD's was in Oxford for the series scouting the stadium. It sounded like they were finally going to give baseball a real effort financially.

Anything the Alabama Athletic Dept. presents to the BOT is approved.

It's just a formality.

Largely b/c UA's Athletic Dept. funds everything it does itself.

This is very true.

I remember talking with a UA BOT member back when Saban was hired. I asked him what UA had to give NS to leave Miami and come to Bama. He said, "We gave him whatever he asked for to get him here. And we guaranteed him he'd get whatever he needs as long as he's here."

Sewell-Thomas Stadium was recently ranked the 11th best stadium out of 12 in a poll of former Southeastern Conference baseball players conducted by The Tuscaloosa News.

Whoever got ranked below us must play in a gravel lot

There are more SEC parks called "stadium" than not, actually

McKethan Stadium (Florida)
Cliff Hagan Stadium (Kentucky)
Taylor Stadium (Missouri)
Carolina Stadium (South Carolina)
Nelson Stadium (Tennessee)
Sewell-Thomas Stadium (Alabama)
Baum Stadium (Arkansas)
Alex Box Stadium (LSU)

Swayze Field at Oxford-University Stadium. Why can't baseball fields be called stadiums again?

Bill Battle has won a lot of Bama people over by his first two actions in firing Wendell Hudson and building, essentially, a new baseball stadium.

Both should have happened years ago

I agree. It actually feels like there's someone in charge, whereas Moore was always hesitant to take initiative, especially when it came to firing people.

Oh no, he's reading all of this. He just realizes what a stupid jackass he is and there's not much more he can say here.

Alabama fans care about men's basketball as much as LSU fans care about baseball. Baseball is a sport that Alabama has to be really good at for the support to be there like it was often was in the 90s and early 00s.

It's about time. Everything else has had a major renovation in the past decade. Football Stadium (obviously), Basketball, Softball, heck, even Tennis has a new indoor facility and Stadium.

As long as they put a berm in the outfield where Greeks can setup tents and booze like Swayze at Ole Miss, it'll be a success.
